  •   VACANCY:  The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Learning Environment Coordinator position for the 2025-2026 school year.
                                                                                                            
    JOB SUMMARY: 
    Identify, develop, and plan targeted interventions which allow students to access the curriculum successfully by creating a responsive learning environment.  Generate/implement programs for a responsive learning environment for all students through coaching and consultation with staff, and direct service delivery to students.  
     
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Performs functions including the following:
    • Serve as an instructional leader, provide technical assistance to staff with respect to the learning environment and Responsive Classroom beliefs and practices; support the Student Support Impact Team in the collaborative and proactive problem-solving practice.
     
    • Identify, develop, and plan targeted interventions which allow students to access the general education curriculum successfully by reducing or eliminating behaviors causing missed instructional time.
     
    • Collaborate in the identification of needs withing the learning environment for individual students. Recommend and coordinate steps for maximizing student school success.
     
    • Make recommendations and collaborate with educators in the modification of learning environment as needed to respond to student needs.
    • Review and prepare reports regarding student progress via assessment data, maintain records of student work, and develop interventions strategies to ensure student success and growth.
    • Meet regularly and work collaboratively with Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Related Services, specialists, administrators, and staff to discuss student needs.
    • Work collaboratively with staff to discuss modifications or adaptations, interventions and supports necessary to ensure safe, optimal, engaging, responsive, and trauma-sensitive environments.
     
    • Enforce and support District and School policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
     
    • Participate in and facilitate staff development and school improvement activities in order to promote professional growth.
     
    • Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day as needed to support student needs.
     
    • Assist family by providing in-home visits and coordination of community resources (eg. crisis response, outside providers, and coordination).
     
    • Assist schools with identifying school improvement goals and evidence-based strategies for improvement.
     
    • Enforce and support District and School policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
    • Serve as a role model for all students and perform their duties to create an environment that is conducive to providing students an enhanced and engaged learning opportunity.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in teaching or related field from an accredited college/university required. Master’s degree in special education, elementary, secondary education, related services, or administration preferred.
    • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with teaching or school support personnel endorsement required. Administrative endorsement preferred.
     
    EXPERIENCE:
     
    • Minimum of five years of successful teaching or related service experience (preferred).
    • Appropriate valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
    • Previous participation in Continuous Improvement efforts and demonstrated success with application of Continuous Improvement methodology in classroom practice
    • Experience with group and individual academic and social/emotional interventions for students in need.
     
    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
     
    • Knowledge, skills, and experience in assessing and working with learners with challenging externalizing behaviors.
    • Ability to plan and organize coordination of services within a Behavior Support Plan.
     
    • Highly trained or willing to be trained in the areas of Social and Emotional Learning, Responsive Classroom practices, de-escalation, and crisis response.
    • Maintains appropriate confidentiality.
    • Evidence of relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Evidence of regular engagement in and desire to continue professional learning, implementation, and reflection.
    • Ability to learn and utilize office equipment, computers, and software especially as systems is updated.
    • Extensive knowledge of and ability to perform duties in compliance with all district, Board, state and federal laws, methods, requirements, policies, procedures, and activities pertinent to the duties of this position.
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
    • Ability to meet strict deadlines, prepare and maintain accurate files and records.
    • Experience collaborating with educators individually and in teams.
    • Experience mentoring or serving in a capacity as a teacher leader, with desire for continued leadership opportunities.
    • Ability to develop respect and rapport with colleagues as an educator who embraces the continuous improvement cycle; is supportive of the development of other educators; is collaborative with peers; and is student learning focused.
    • Experience with integration of instructional technology to enhance delivery and learning.
    • Demonstrated use of strategies for ensuring equitable practices in a diverse learning environment.
    • Effective time management skills and ability to schedule flexibility to maximize educator’s schedules and student learning.
     
    WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Work is performed in an environment where unusual noise and hazards could exist.   Students may require close proximity and support including de-escalation and physical intervention strategies.   Work requires the employee to perform the following critical physical demands of the job.
    • Ability to regularly talk, sees, and hears.
    • Ability to very frequently lift, pull, push, walk, stand, sit, and use of hands for fine manipulation during the normal performance of tasks and responsibilities.
    • Ability to occasionally stoop, kneels, crouch, and lift or move up to forty (40) pounds.
    • Ability to perform approved physical restraints, if applicable.
    • Ability to travel from building to building as needed.
    • Be able to flex time as necessary to meet with educators and teams.
     
    WORKING CONDITIONS:  The work year for this position is 191 days.  Salary is in accordance with the teacher salary schedule.  The District offers excellent fringe benefits, including life, health, and dental insurance.
