  •   VACANCY:   The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a full-time LPN / Special Education Paraprofessional position for the 2025/2026 school year.
     
    JOB SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for assisting district nurses and the district Health Services Coordinator in a variety of health related tasks; to work in the health office as well as general and special educational settings, providing support to a student or students with significant disabilities and health concerns within the classroom and around the building; Students may require toileting, feeding, following the health care plan in conjunction with the building nurse/district Health Service Coordinator, lifting, support to building Health Service office, and other medical services provided to students.
     
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Assists building nurses and district Health Service Coordinator in a variety of health-related tasks.
    • Assists and collaborates with the building nurse to implement student health care plan(s)
    • Works in a variety of settings to provide support to a student or students with significant disabilities or medical needs within the classroom and/or around the building.
    • Assists with communication, scheduling, and implementation of health service plans.
    • Support and delivery of health services to students and staff with the Health Services building under the direction of the District Health Services Coordinator or building nurse
    • Assess the health and developmental status of selected students.
    • Work cooperatively with other School Assessment Team members to assess health needs related to learning.
    • Accesses student population for compliance with immunization and Illinois Department of Health laws.
    • Supervises proper administration of medication procedures.
    • Provides adequate care of ill and injured children.
    • Provide student and parent health counseling.
    • Comply with law regarding suspected child abuse.
    • Attend health services staff meetings.
    • Perform other duties related to planning, organizing, directing and accomplishing goals and objectives of the Health Services Program as requested by the Principal and Assistant Principal.
    • Perform all duties as requested by the Principal and Assistant Principal

    EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
    • Evidence of a Statement of Approval from the Will County Regional Office of Education to serve as a teacher aide with license registered in Will County
    • Current CPR certification is required
    • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification/background is required
     
    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • AKnowledge of health/medical materials and techniques
    • Initiative to follow through with assigned tasks
    • Effective communication skills
    • Should serve as a role model for all students and staff and perform their duties to create an environment that is conducive to providing students an enhanced and engaged learning opportunity
    • A physical exam and negative T.B. test are required
    • Ability to maneuver and support students

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:  Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise and hazards are relatively nonexistent. Students may require toileting, feeding and lifting.

    PAY SCALE AND BENEFIT DISCLOSURE:    Salary is in accordance with the Paraprofessional Salary Schedule.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  The Salary and work year is 181 days and is in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Valley View Council and the Board of Education.  A Physical exam and a negative Tuberculosis test are required.  FLSA Non-Exempt.
