2. Have completed an apprenticeship sponsored by IBEW or equal.
3. Have 5 years working knowledge of Power Distribution System.
4. Have 5 years working knowledge of electrical controls.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
LICENSES,

JOB DESCRIPTION

Certified Electrician Maintenance/Groundsman (Shift as Assigned)

REPORTS TO
The Chief/Night Supervisor
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
Electrical systems, building maintenance, grounds, and additional duties as assigned.
GENERAL DUTIES
A. ELECTRICAL
1. Must have experience with commercial electric and service.
2. Understand commercial electrical systems and materials used.
3. Install new and repair existing electrical systems.
4. Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment appliances, apparatus and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
5. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
6. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components.
7. Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes.
8. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
9. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devises such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and megger, to ensure compatibility and safety of systems.
10. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
11. Direct and train workers to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures as required.
12. Have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
B. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain parts inventory.
2. Repair lockers.
3. Replace lamps inside and outside.
4. General electric repairs (receptacles, switches, ballasts, motors, breakers).
5. Maintain plumbing (toilets, sinks, water fountains and drains).
6. Maintain doors and hardware (locks, closers, holders and panic devices).
7. Replace damaged veiling tiles and floor tiles.
8. Repair furniture and equipment.
9. Assemble new furniture and equipment.
10. Assist on grounds work when necessary.
11. Test pool daily and keep records.
12. Attend training sessions as required.
13. Attend safety meetings as required.
14. Flex work hours as required.

10. Service, repair, adjust and test machines, devices, moving parts and equipment that operate primarily on the basis or mechanical (not electronic) principles.
11. Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and grounds.
12. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and their applications.
13. Enter, transcribe, record, store or maintain information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
14. Have the ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
15. Give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate and not interrupt at inappropriate times.

D. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE
1. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers, tablets and peripherals.
2. Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, e-mail, etc.
3. Operating knowledge of basic hand tools and other specialized electrical tools required.
4. Operating knowledge of electrical equipment and electrical distribution.
5. Operating knowledge of analog and digital meters, etc.
6. Operating knowledge of man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
