GENERAL DUTIES
The Teacher promotes and develops successful learning for students, performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District Policies and terms of the teacher contract. The Teacher also maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A. A valid State of Oregon Teaching License appropriate for the position with the correct
endorsement
B. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
C. Hold a valid Oregon Driver’s license and reliable transportation
D. The ability to follow oral and written instructions
E. The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
F. The ability to work harmoniously with others
G. Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
H. Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
I. The ability to learn new automated systems as they are brought online by the District
J. Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
B. Annually pass the District’s required online training by the District’s assigned due-date
C. Follow site and/or District protocol for reporting absences
D. Maintain current licenses and/or certificates required for the position
E. Utilize the District’s electronic systems and applications related to the job
F. Development and management of a comprehensive school counseling program: - Develop and maintain an annual Counselor/Principal Agreement outlining the plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program and communicate with the school administrator(s) about the progress of the annual agreement
- ?Facilitate communication between student, parent, and staff
- Discuss the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to education stakeholders (i.e., administrators, teachers, students and parents)
- Uses the majority of time providing direct services through the Guidance Curriculum, Individual Student Planning and Preventive and Responsive Services, and most remaining time in program management, system support, and accountability (National standards recommend 80% of time in Guidance Curriculum, Individual Student Planning and Preventive and Responsive Services and 20% of time in program management, system support, and accountability (American School Counselor Association, 2012)

G. Delivery of a comprehensive school counseling program:
Guidance Curriculum
Provide leadership and collaborate with other educators in the district-wide integration of the Career and College Pathways scope and sequence K-12
Implement developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented classroom or group activities to meet student needs and school goals
Promote student awareness of career/job opportunities, their characteristics, their requirements, and necessary career planning
Facilitate student development of habits, attitudes, and skills needed successful postsecondary and career acquisition
Incorporate into their programs information regarding financial assistance for career/educational opportunities
Individual Student Planning
Conduct timely individual student planning sessions as requested by students, staff, or parents
Clarify academic, social/emotional and career goals and move toward appropriate solutions and plans
Provide immediate responsive services for students in crisis
Accurately and appropriately interpret and utilize student data
Through 504 case management, communicate with school and community resources as an advocate for students with special needs
Consult, collaborate, refer students to alternative sources of educational programs, resources and services
Provide appropriate scheduling information by informing students of curriculum offerings sufficient to graduation requirements and Career Pathways
Assess student schedules and provide appropriate guidance to insure the attainment of individual student goals
Assist in the forecasting and registration process
Preventive and Responsive Services
Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs
Participate in orientation activities, especially at the transition levels, and for students transferring into the District
Use assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group services
As a team member participates in the referral and follow-up process as needed
Support System
Assist teachers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student data
Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills, including District sponsored in-services offered appropriate to assignment
Develop and implement annually an approved plan for professional growth and development
Provide appropriate information to school personnel related to the comprehensive school counseling program
Use available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program
Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession
Monitor student academic performance, behavior, and attendance and facilitates appropriate interventions
H. Accountability
Conduct a yearly program audit to review extent of program implementation and effectiveness
Collect and analyzes data to guide program direction and emphasis.
Measure results of the comprehensive school counseling program activities and shares results as appropriate with relevant stakeholders
