We are looking for someone to work 5 days a week in this building, but be flexible to float to other buildings if the need arises.

Selected Candidate will be eligible for District health insurance with a District contribution of $210 per month. Selected Candidate will not be eligible for a continuing contract.

Pay is $25.00 per hour.

Position to start as arranged and last the entire 2024-2025 school year.  Selected candidates will be expected to attend all building meetings, professional development and other meetings as assigned by the building principal.

Must hold a valid teaching/substitute license.

Permanent substitutes will provide teachers time to attend meetings, PD, team conferences, student support meetings, along with needs for daily substitute teachers.

It is necessary that substitute teachers understand the procedures in place to ensure a safe and orderly environment for all students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implements the individualized health plan (plan of care) as written by the school nurse.
Provides health care services under the supervision of the school nurse.

Assesses, plans, coordinates and delivers school health services
Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver and evaluate health care for students
Provides outreach activities, case finding, case management and care coordination
Manages health office activities
Trains and supervises non-licensed personnel performing health procedures
Provides anticipatory guidance and health education activities that emphasize self care, wellness activities, personal health practices, and appropriate use of health resources
Provides health counseling and guidance to students and their families
Provides consultation services including home and community visits
Initiates and or coordinates referrals to and/or linkages with health agencies
Collaborates with others in the school and surrounding community to improve students' health             
Works with others to minimize environmental risk factors and promote health and safety within the school setting
Assists staff with strategies to support and meet students’ needs and achievement of academic goals.
Provides active communication and positive relationships with parents and community members.
Assists in planning and delivery of social/emotional/behavioral school-wide programming.
Maintains appropriate records and protects the confidentiality of data.
Meets the Standards of School Nursing Practice and the Iowa Teaching Standards on a consistent basis.
Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

EXPERIENCE;
Previous pediatric nursing, school health nursing, or community health nursing experience highly desirable.

 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, assessment data, professional journals and regulations.  Ability to effectively write reports and communications to students, colleagues, parents and staff.   Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, staff and students. Ability to assist students in the areas of language and literacy.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions. Ability to assist students in implementing these mathematical concepts.
 
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve problems effectively.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
