PROJECT MANAGER, FACILITIES PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION
Minimum Requirements (Education/Experience)
Bachelor�s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Technology or related field; or five years experience in a government agency or private firm doing construction of educational facilities or commercial projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position. Basic computer skills required (e.g., ability to use email).
Special Notes
The incumbent will develop the project scope of work and a preliminary construction budget for all assigned projects; assist designer, as needed, with pre-design and design activities; review bid documents; constructability review; manage all pre-construction, construction, and construction closeout activities; review construction plans and specifications; comment and recommend changes as needed; receive and review contractor requests, such as Requests for Information, and provide prompt and complete responses to keep projects on schedule; work with permitting and building officials and inspectors; respond promptly to correspondence and reports; schedule all required inspection; participate in dispute resolution and value-engineering meetings; provide regular detailed project reporting to the Senior Director of Project Management; monitor project progress and review project schedule and ensure project progress is acceptable; reports work progress and project schedule variances to the Senior Director of Project Management; regularly schedule, organize and attend project meetings with contractors, clients, consultants and outside agencies; enforce contract plans, specifications, District Master Specifications and approved schedules and submittals; resolve conflicts between contractor, designer, client and other agencies; coordinate utility outages and site access restrictions with affected parties; advise, consult and communicate with Senior Director of Project Management, and Chief Facilities Officer; plan, coordinate, and communicate all potential impacts to client operations; minimize project impacts to client operations; review, comment and approve, or obtain review and approval, of submittals, pay applications and other requisite construction project documents; report concerns to Senior Director of Project Management; develop and maintain detailed project records for all assigned projects; maintain accurate and comprehensive project files for all assigned project
