TITLE: 5th & 6th Grade Cross Categorial Special Education Teacher
Salary & Benefits Summary per the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
- Annual Salary Range for 2025-26 School Year (180 days): $39,880 - $65,000 (Dependent upon years of experience and education)

**A new teacher induction academy will be held for all new licensed staff on Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid and appropriate Illinois licensure.
LBS 1 endorsement required.
Complete required professional development to retain certification.
Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education, Building Principal and Assistant Principal
JOB GOAL: To facilitate student success and growth in academic, functional, and social emotional learning skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Addresses the wide variety of instructional needs of students and works with teachers to design methods of learning that are most appropriate for students with IEPs.
Consults frequently with general education teachers on matters relating to instruction using our progress-monitoring instrument as a base.
Assists in the evaluation of ongoing programs and makes recommendations for change.
Helps teachers identify student strengths and weaknesses and matches these skills with appropriate techniques and resources.
Works with support staff and school administrators to facilitate the coordination of the special education program with the total curriculum.
Works with the classroom teacher and district personnel to coordinate instruction designed to meet the individual needs of students.
Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
Develops, implements and monitors student IEP needs in compliance with state and federal law and district procedures.
Maintains professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher education.
- Possesses experience with the multi-tier system of supports (MTSS) process.
- Ensures that student conduct and attendance conforms with the school standards and school district discipline policies.
Utilizes current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
Utilizes knowledge of instructional goals and objectives along with Common Core State Standards.
Utilizes knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Applies knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Obtains knowledge of computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Organizes and coordinates work.
Communicates effectively with students and parents.
Engages in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the director of special education, principal/assistant principal, and other district office administrators as designated by the superintendent.
