We are hiring two counselors, one ongoing position now and one grant funded position to start in July. OUR DISTRICT: Clear Creek School District (CCSD) is located in Clear Creek County, Colorado, a short drive west of Denver and area suburbs. Clear Creek serves the mountain communities of Idaho Springs, Georgetown, Empire, Dumont, Silver Plume, and parts of Evergreen. Our county is well-suited for the outdoor enthusiast, with beautiful mountain trails for hiking and biking, rivers for rafting, and ski areas that serve both nordic and alpine. Our historic downtowns offer some of the best places to explore and discover.

OUR SCHOOL: Clear Creek Middle/High School shares a campus nestled in a natural setting on Floyd Hill west of Evergreen. It offers a bike/hiking trail in addition to open space. With student enrollment at the Middle School of 95, and the High School of 225, it is a tight-knit community with engaged and supportive families. As a school district, we provide an experiential learning model, with a focus on embracing the outdoor environment as an expanded classroom. In addition, our schools and District are currently developing strong community partnerships and career-aligned education for students through the Homegrown Talent Initiative.
YOU: We are seeking a strong, enthusiastic, growth-mindset counselor/educator who has a passion for engaging, authentic learning experiences and excels in instructional practices. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in promoting the social, emotional, and academic development of students while incorporating the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) National Model standards into their daily practice.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT: The successful candidate will be required to complete fingerprinting through an approved fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
POSITION SUMMARY: Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, school counselors promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Counselor to work with middle & high school students to develop a school portfolio, which includes evidence of academic learning and career/postsecondary education exploration & planning. A top candidate must be willing to support CCMS/HS in its process of redesigning the school model with a focus on the elements below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Work collaboratively with students, administrators, teachers, parents and other stakeholders to address concerns and problem-solve when there are specific and systemic challenges to student success and learning.
Assist students in developing life skills, connect with peers/adults and support school culture through participation in CCMS/HS’s Connect Class and broadly through the school day.
Work cooperatively with Jefferson Center for Mental Health counselors and/or appropriate agencies providing student services and support.
Facilitate Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Processes, including meeting facilitation, problem solving and follow through on meeting objectives and collaborate with the district MTSS Coordinator.
Provide individual and group guidance, counseling, consultative services to students and parents/guardians as appropriate, making referrals to mental health support, social services, law enforcement as necessary.
Provide support and guidance to teachers in academic/social student concerns.
Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure smooth transitions for students from elementary to middle school, middle to high school and beyond high school.
Develop comprehensive classroom lessons that engage students proactively in the drug prevention initiative, in career exploration or organization and study habits.
Counselor will be responsible for development and overseeing 504 plans in addition to working with SPED staff to ensure IEP compliance.
Assist with summer school planning for student remediation/acceleration.
Guide students in developing class schedules to meet graduation requirements and support career development.
Ability to create a master schedule and update individual student schedules using Infinite Campus.
Support of students struggling with appropriate behavior (in collaboration with Administration).
Mediate student conflict (student-student, student-staff)
Establish conditions under which students exercise self-discipline, honesty, leadership and citizenship.
Uses and organizes student data as part of school planning purposes.
Assist in the scheduling of state and district assessments in collaboration with Administration and the District Assessment Coordinator.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Current Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License/School Counselor or ability to obtain. Endorsement: School Counselor (Ages 0-21). Master's Degree or higher in School Counseling as defined by accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling or Related Educational Programs, or ability to obtain.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) to three (3) years school counseling experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Understanding of the different components and uses of Infinite Campus for scheduling and recordkeeping
Recognize problems and actively contribute to their resolutions.
Adhere to the code of ethics of the counseling profession of the State of Colorado.
Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to building and district programs.
Acts as a liaison between the elementary schools and the Middle/High School.
Acts as liaison between Middle/High School and outside agencies.
Maintain a concern for students’ health and safety.
Stay within the department budget.
Work cooperatively with school administration and staff in a team atmosphere.
Effectively communicate with students, staff and parents.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: First Aid and CPR Certificate or ability to obtain one (training provided). Valid driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level is typical of a school district.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent sitting, bending, reaching; stooping, squatting. Occasional lifting five (5) to twenty five (25) pounds.
