Clear Creek serves the mountain communities of Idaho Springs, Georgetown, Empire, Dumont, Silver Plume, and parts of Evergreen. Our county is well-suited for the outdoor enthusiast, with beautiful mountain trails for hiking and biking, rivers for rafting, and ski areas that serve both nordic and alpine.     OUR SCHOOL: Clear Creek Middle/High School shares a campus nestled in a natural setting on Floyd Hill west of Evergreen. It offers a bike/hiking trail in addition to open space. With student enrollment at the Middle School of 95, and the High School of 225, it is a tight-knit community with engaged and supportive families. As a school district, we provide an experiential learning model, with a focus on embracing the outdoor environment as an expanded classroom. In addition, our schools and district are currently developing strong community partnerships and career-aligned education for students through the Homegrown Talent Initiative.

     

    YOU: We are seeking a strong, enthusiastic, growth-mindset educator who has a passion for engaging, authentic learning experiences and is strong in instructional practices. 

     

    PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT: The successful candidate will be required to complete fingerprinting through an approved fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

     

    POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a dynamic educator to help high school students see the relevance in the real world of the Math content learned in class, and to engage students through student-centered, authentic learning opportunities such as project-based learning. A top candidate must be willing to support CCMS/HS in its process of redesigning the school model with a focus on the elements below.

    Active Self-Direction:  Students are drivers of their learning and have a voice in decisions so that they grow in agency as they grapple directly with concepts 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND  RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Instructional Planning: Plan instruction consistent with the district-approved curriculum for assigned subject area(s)/grade level(s). Create plans that build on the curricular resources to create experiences that motivate and engage students. Use formal and informal methods to assess the abilities and needs of students. Plan effective use of class time.

     

    Instructional interaction (teaching): Apply principles of teaching/learning to enhance student achievement. Utilize teaching methods that are appropriate for the objectives and learners. Modify instruction to meet student needs. Communicate effectively with learners.  Provide for and maintain student involvement during instruction. 

     

    Evaluation of instruction: Use the evaluation of student outcomes to measure the effectiveness of instruction and make adjustments accordingly. Communicate effectively student progress to student and parent/guardian.

     

    Instructional management: Attend to tasks in a manner that maximizes instruction. Maintain necessary student records. Assist in planning for appropriate use of volunteers/aides as assigned.

     

    Learning Environment: Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment that is in alignment with the school-wide culture of Connect. Establish clear expectations for appropriate behavior and consequences for inappropriate behavior. Establish conditions under which students exercise self-discipline, honesty, leadership and citizenship. Incorporate regular opportunities for students to learn outside the classroom. 

     

    Professional Responsibilities: Participate in professional growth opportunities. Adhere to the code of ethics of the teaching professional of the State of Colorado. Recognize problems and actively contribute to their resolutions. Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to building and district goals and priorities. Demonstrate a concern for students’ health and safety. Stay within department budget. 

     

    General: Accept and fulfill assigned responsibilities and duties in a prompt and efficient manner. Follow Board of Education policies, building procedures and any other rules, regulations or procedures that may be established by the District or Building administrations. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the building principal in accordance with District Policies.

     

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING:  At a minimum, the candidate must hold or have the ability to attain a valid Colorado teaching license and meet content-area qualifications, which could include  the appropriate license endorsement, degree in the content area, Colorado State Board of Education-approved content exam, or 24 credit hours as determined by the district.

     

    EXPERIENCE: 

     

    Prior experience teaching secondary Math is preferred. 

     

    Plan lessons and activities that facilitate students' understanding of the scientific method, skills and concepts, based in Colorado Academic Standards

     

    Incorporate elements of project-based learning into lesson design

     

    Collaborate with members of the Math Department 

     

    Instruct in a manner that develops students' confidence in their abilities 

     

    Track and communicate students' advancement throughout the course 

     

    KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  

     

    Thorough knowledge and experience in teaching students Mathematics

     

    Plan effective lessons with attention to best use of instructional time, differentiation strategies, student engagement, feedback to students

     

    Ability to work well and develop rapport with all students, as well as use classroom management strategies to maximize growth opportunities for students

     

    Proven ability to develop curriculum based upon state standards

     

    Ability to work independently on directed tasks and programs

     

    Problem solving capability

     

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

     

    Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times

     

    Ability to assess students and communicate concept/skill mastery to students and parents 

     

    Strong organizational and leadership skills and the ability to work with parents, community, students, other teachers and administrators in collaborative settings

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Valid Colorado Teaching License.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level is typical of a school district.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Frequent sitting, bending, reaching;  stooping, squatting. Occasional lifting five (5) to twenty five (25) pounds.

     

    SUPERVISORY DUTIES:  None.
