Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be an individual who firmly believes: - All students can and will learn, and their learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control.
- You can work interdependently with teachers, school, and district leaders throughout the system, aligning the work of adults around improving student learning by meeting students' needs, interests, and aspirations.
- You want to work with staff to continuously improve practices that enhance student and family engagement, creating the conditions for student success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: - Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet students' unique learning needs, goals, and accommodations.
- Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects and functional life skills using evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Adapt and modify curriculum to support diverse learning styles and developmental levels.
- Utilize behavior management strategies, including positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques, to support student success.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, independence, and social-emotional growth.
- Collaborate with teachers, mental health professionals, educational assistants, and support staff to implement IEP goals and interventions effectively.
- Monitor student progress through data collection, ongoing observations, and formative assessments, adjusting instruction as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, behavior, and individualized support strategies.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district policies regarding special education documentation, assessments, and reporting.
- Participate in professional development and training to stay current on best practices in special education.
Preferences:
We strongly prefer candidates who have excellent collaboration skills with colleagues and an enthusiasm for working with students.
Qualifications: - Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License, EBD, ASD, or ABS or the ability to become licensed
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Current valid teaching license in another subject area and willing to get an out-of-field license
- If not currently licensed, willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2 Teaching License in EBD, ASD, or ABS.
- Commitment to all students' education, creative planning and organizational skills, and highly effective interpersonal skills.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is based on the CVSEC Master Agreement, with a range of $52,522- $94,864. Your initial placement depends on your qualifications, including education and years of experience.
