General Classroom Aide Job Description
The General Classroom Aide provides support to teachers and students in a school setting, assisting
with instructional and classroom management tasks to enhance learning and promote a positive

Qualifications: - High School Diploma or Graduation equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Terms of Employment: Hours/Day Dependent on Position - 182 days/year - Hourly Wage based on
Aide Pay Scale
Reports to: Classroom Teacher and Building Principal
Physical Ability: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to
stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and
arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, see and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or
move up to 30 pounds.

- Maintain an air of courteousness and confidentiality at all times, following all FERPA guidelines.
- Assist classroom teachers in preparing instructional materials and setting up learning activities.
- Assist in managing classroom behavior and implementing classroom management strategies to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce initially introduced concepts
- Assist individual students in need of special attention, services, and instruction
- Perform duties as teacher outlines in classroom schedule
- Assist teacher in maintaining procedures and records
- Work with students in any way to implement the student’s IEP, 504, or special plans
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to meet the needs of students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
