  •   POSITION PURPOSE: Provides speech screenings to children. Refers children and their parents to community agencies and professionals as appropriate. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Performs speech screenings for children ages 2.5 -5.11 years
    • Assists in the coordination of Child Find and referral process
    • Works with community agencies to provide services/programs to meet needs of children inside/outside of the school environment.
    • Cooperates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of children.
    • Compiles data and prepares various reports and records required by the school, district, and/or other agencies.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of School Readiness, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology or Speech Education.
    • Must hold or be eligible to hold a professional teaching certificate in the area of Speech Correction from the South Carolina Department of Education

    EXPERIENCE:
    • Prior tutorial experience preferred.
    • Knowledge and understanding of children.
    • Ability to work with others.
    • Willingness to follow directions.
    • Ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with Board Policy.
    • Ability to accept individual differences among children.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented.
