    JOB TITLE:       Resource Teacher, College and Career Readiness (10-month) - General John Stricker Middle School
     
    SCHEDULE:      Full Time 
    (1.0 FTE, full time in the classroom.)
     
    REPORTS TO:   Coordinator, College and Career Readiness
     
    DEFINITION:    Provides Title I schools with instructional assistance, program implementation support, and other services in support of Baltimore County’s college and career readiness programs and initiatives.  Performs other duties as assigned.

     
    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
     
    • Serves as a member of the Baltimore County Public Schools Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) District Leadership Team, specifically serving Title I schools.
    • Assists Title I schools in the implementation of the Baltimore County Teaching and Learning Framework by supporting quality instruction through the use of culturally responsive teaching strategies and data driven decision-making in AVID programs and other early college access programs. 
    • Provides Title I schools with services and support to AVID teachers and teachers of other content areas that include college and career ready curricula, programs and initiatives.
    • Provides leadership to and collaborates with Title I teachers and administrators to spread Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR) strategies and AVID methodologies school wide and with fidelity.
    • Supports, plans, coordinates, and leads workshops to provide ongoing curriculum and professional development to Title I teachers of AVID and other college and career ready content areas.
    • Provides services and support to Title I teachers in the preparation and implementation of curriculum and instruction designed to increase student achievement on standardized tests.
    • Identifies culturally relevant materials, resources, content, multi-media, and software that support the instructional programs and the needs of the diverse population of BCPS.
    • Maintains personal professional growth for certification and skill standards that are relevant to the program content area.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
       
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education, Training and Experience:


    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, plus five years of successful teaching experience is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
     
    Experience teaching at the elementary and/or middle school level is preferred.  Successful completion of AVID Center Training is required, preferably in the last 4 years.


    Licenses and Certificates:

    Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment.

    OR

    Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Professional License appropriate to the area of assignment.
     
    Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate or Advanced Professional License is preferred.

     
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Demonstration of strong, culturally relevant leadership, communication, and human relations skills. 
    • Thorough knowledge of curriculum development and professional development. 
    • Demonstration of strong computer and instructional technology skills. 
    • Knowledge of and skill in data analysis.
    PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

    The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office and school environment.  Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities.

    SALARY:                 $60,000 - $119,522
     

    FLSA STATUS:       Exempt

    OTHER COMPENSATIONPosition may be eligible for relocation bonus, extra duty activities pay, or other student activities pay as defined in the applicable Bargaining Unit Agreement.

    RETIREMENT:     Eligible for membership in the Maryland State Retirement Agency.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:
    • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109.  An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
    • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
    • If you have military experience, you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
    • Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via escript/clearinghouse from your university.
    • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
    • All newly hired personnel must attend a Benefits and Retirement Orientation meeting.
    • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
