Purpose:
• Trade and Industrial Education (T&I) programs provide students with the skills and conceptual knowledge needed for careers in industry. Students can focus on industry certifications for careers immediately after graduation or develop skills and knowledge needed for higher level professional degrees.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:           
• Must have North Carolina Teaching Certification/License or credentials to attain NC certification.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
 NATURE OF WORK:
The CTE teacher is responsible for carrying out a career technical education program based on the NC CTE Standards that prepares students for high-skill, high-wage careers aligned with post-secondary education and consistent with regional workforce needs.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Planning
• Designing the academic education program so that it is consistent with the total educational philosophy of the School.
• Continuing professional growth through educational meetings, reading professional literature, and exchanging ideas among the staff.

• Provides direct, specially designed services while employing a variety of teaching methods; collects and maintains documented evidence of student progress, such as data collection, formal and informal assessment of skills, student work, etc.
• Monitors student behavior; maintains discipline in the classroom; deescalates inappropriate behaviors; and teaches students appropriate behavior strategies.
• Assists the student with their personal and self-help needs, such as eating, toileting and other essential tasks that the student is not able to perform.
• Collaborates and coordinates services with the General Education Teacher of the student while providing technical assistance.
• Communicates with parents regarding their child’s educational progress through oral and written progress reports.
• Acts as a case manager for all assigned students.
• Consults with community services, school support professionals, and parents to better meet the student’s needs.
