Paraeducator Special Education
Full Time  184 days/6.5 hrs/day

Duties:  Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center base settings.  Although the job duties vary due to the age or level of disability, job duties may include: 
 - managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom)
 - monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing , grooming, social skills, etc.)
 - managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Personal Care Assistant certification required to be completed within 30 days of start date.  Candidates must have completed 60 semester/ 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution or have passed the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam. (Documentation will be required)
Good communications, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills.  Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.  Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.  Ability to supervise students.  Ability to take direction.  Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.  
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.  Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices, materials handling, data functions and people functions, but not limited to toileting, feeding and self-care procedures, implementing behavioral management program; maintaining student data; working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior.  Must be physically working in the building.

Rate of Pay:
$19.60/hour to $24.75/hour DOQ with K-12 experience
$20.70/hour to $25.85/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience*
$21.50/hour to $26.65/hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience
Special Ed Paras serving Centerbased students and classrooms 50 percent or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.00/hour.

Paraeducators assigned to positions of six (6) or more hours per day who are hired on or after March 17, 2025, will not become eligible for insurance benefits until the start of the 2025-26 school year.

Special Education Lead Teacher
Full Time - 2025-26 school year

Special Education Lead Teacher is a leadership role that involves working closely with the building administration team to support students’ programming along with their families and staff; and will serve as a liaison between the building and Special Education Department.  Although there are differences in expectation at the various levels and/or programs, Special Education Leads typically are expected to assume the following duties:
 
Duties:  Work with building administrators, general education, and special education teachers to assure inclusion of students in the least restrictive environment.  Serve as special education representative on building leadership, IEP, and intervention teams.  Attend monthly leadership meetings with building and district administration, and follow-up with staff.  Collaborate with Special Education Supervisor and building administration to implement corrective action plans.  Model data-based decision making.  Manage Due Process and Compliance.  Serve as an instructional leader assisting to improve the academic and behavioral outcomes of students on IEPs.  Support teams and students with implementation of behavior support plans and crisis response.  Facilitate Special Education Department meetings and Paraeducator meetings.  Communicate, train, and support changes in special education process or procedures to building staff.  Participate in interview teams for special education staff.  Provide training and coaching to special education staff.  Assist with coordination of scheduling for Paraeducators and students.  Support new students transitioning into special education.  Coordinate Child Study Meetings.  Support the budgetary processes for equipment, supplies, field trips, etc.
 
Minimum Qualifications:  Requires Any Special Education License.  Must possess a strong understanding of due process, special education processes and procedures, and problem-solving skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications:  Special Ed Behavior experience preferred.
