We do through building supportive relationships so teachers can incorporate content-specific best practices to impact student engagement, provide equitable learning opportunities for students, and identify areas for professional growth.
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Curriculum Director, the Instructional Coach facilitates teacher improvement through relationship and student-centered coaching practices. In addition, the Coach partners with subject area specialists and the curriculum team to design effective professional learning targeted to d teaching and learning resources in order to facilitate the effective teacher and student use of educational technologies.
Essential Functions:
Provide frequent and regular coaching cycles Support teachers with content knowledge, instructional design, developing authentic assessment, behavior, Support teachers in developing instructional skills (eg. teacher clarity, learning targets & success criteria, pacing, and effective correction/feedback for students.) Help teachers place proper emphasis on “enduring understandings” & “essentials” Help teachers purposefully design and create unit and daily lessons; develop content scope & sequence maps Deepen content and help make it more accessible to more students. Provide and co-develop content models of instruction, assessment, & higher/deeper level questions within the content Provide targeted professional learning to build teacher capacity Participate & provide in designing large scale professional learning & district-wide assessment processes. Balance priorities among projects to effectively use existing resources to address multiple requests. |
Qualifications:
Requires a current State of Utah teaching certificate (and that it be maintained throughout employment in this position).
Requires a minimum of 7 years of classroom teaching experience.
Evidence of proficiency in the effective classroom teaching practices, either through a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the content specific discipline.
Requires the ability and willingness to work in all secondary school level settings.
Requires the ability to collaboratively work in small and sometimes large groups.
Requires effective interpersonal skills to coach and interact with individuals and groups at all organizational levels.
Requires a deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and the effective use of technology throughout.
Requires an attitude of life-long learning and a willingness to try new teaching and learning methods and techniques.
Requires the ability to model best teaching practices and familiarity with the implementation of problem/inquiry-based learning, cooperative learning, and student centered instructional practices.
Requires basic knowledge of and experience using web-based systems including lCanvas, and MasteryConnect, in addition to other instructional, assessment, productivity, and multimedia software.
Requires demonstrated competence in providing professional development to teachers and/or other school leaders.
Requires a valid Utah Driver License.
