JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
Provides high-level confidential administrative support to the Superintendent of Schools or Chief level administrator, with a strong emphasis on both internal and external communication. 
Work as part of a team with all office staff and administrators.

Minimum of 5 years experience, including progressively advanced level secretary
 
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Demonstrated broad knowledge of major educational business office administrative support secretarial functions, modern office terminology, procedures, and equipment 
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the organization and functions of the school system 
Ability to manage clerical and administrative support activities of a large school division, and to guide and support activities and staff 
Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing 
Ability to interact with top level officials and all staff with tact, courtesy and diplomacy 
Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions 
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality concerning district, personnel, customer and vendor information
 
 
KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General
• Assists the Superintendent or Chief level administrator in the management of her/his schedule, and arrange and plan for meetings.
• Assists in the preparation of correspondence, reports, meeting agendas, and other materials as may be required.
• Gather such information as may be needed by the Superintendent or Chief in a timely manner.
• Maintains a filing system that provides for the convenient recovery of documents.
• Places, receives, and logs messages for the Superintendent or Chief.
• Handles  promptly incoming and outgoing correspondence and other documents, including a log of incoming mail.
• Assists in the drafting of district-wide communications.
• Assists with the development and maintenance of the district calendar.
• Ensures that all material leaving the Superintendent’s office or Chief’s office  are error free.
• Uses initiative in identifying, reporting, and offering solutions to issues and problems that may be limiting the effectiveness of the district office as a whole.
• Performs other duties as may be required that fall within the general scope of the positions responsibilities.
 
Superintendent Specific
• Attends School Board meetings for the purpose of assisting the Superintendent in tracking requirements and actions resulting from the meetings in addition to minute taking.
• Developa agendas and supporting papers, and post meetings of the School Board and its subcommittees in a timely fashion.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a usual office or school environment. The position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends.  The individual must be able to work remotely in the event of a district shut-down or other situation.

Mental Functions:  May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain control under stress.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute and negotiate.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Support Specialist of Restorative Justice will lead the facilitation and promotion of restorative justice practices within the district. This role focuses on repairing harm caused by student behavior through inclusive, reparative processes involving victims, offenders, and stakeholders across the school environment.
 
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree required.
 
License / Certification
POST Certificate or
Colorado Teacher License or
Social Worker Certification or
Behavioral Health Endorsement or
Work experience may be substituted in lieu of certification 
 
Work Experience Required
Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in criminal justice, counseling/social work, restorative practices, education, or a similar field or
Relevant work experience may substitute for certification requirements. 
 
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Demonstrated experience using restorative justice practices.
Ability to coach and support school staff in implementing restorative practices.
Experience presenting to both small and large groups.
Capacity to inspire, manage, and collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and using data from multiple sources.
Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred). 
 
 
KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Major Responsibilities
 
• Utilize knowledge of innovative programs, procedures, and objectives to facilitate staff development and implementation of appropriate restorative practices for students.
• Champion the creation of innovative programs and refinement or redesign of existing programs that require extensive cross-departmental collaboration and internal consensus.
• Lead the development and execution of restorative processes, including replication of existing programs, launch of new programs, and recruitment and management of external school providers.
• Coordinate and ensure the successful integration of evidence-based strategies to support the growth and success of all innovative programs and scale successful strategies to other campuses.
• Oversee orientation sessions, as needed, for effective implementation of STOP School Violence grant guidelines and instructional programs.
 
School/Organizational Climate
 
• Help set the vision and strategic plan for the District’s Restorative practices.
• Encourage and recognize excellence/improvement in the performance of staff.
• Demonstrate high expectations for staff through monitoring goals and program implementation, development and continuous improvement.

Strategic Implementation and Continuous Improvement

• Communicate with campuses and appropriate district leaders to ensure desired outcomes of each program within the department.
• Support efforts by principals to achieve district goals and campus goals where appropriate.
• Systematically monitor effectiveness of assigned programs by collaboratively reviewing campus and student level data with principals and departments to ensure that goals are being met.
• Develop, plan and assist in the delivery of effective staff development activities.
 
Policy, Reports, and Law
• Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in special programs areas.
• Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required for purposes of the grant.
 
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
 
• Support and follow local, state, and federal rules and policies.
• Define program and other needs in the budget development process. 
• Attend training and become certified in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), First Aid, and CPR
• Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Communications
 
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among campus administrators, district departmental leaders, and community members to enhance service delivery, program development, customer satisfaction particularly around innovative schools and programs.
   
Personnel Management
 
• Conference regularly with assigned staff to discuss performance and to jointly develop improvement objectives for professional growth opportunities.
 
Budget and/or Resource Responsibilities
 
• Develop, review and contribute to department budgets including the grant
• Contribute in collaborative decision making regarding the purchase of resources
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaboration with district and school leaders on the supervision of direct reports that includes Restorative Justice Advocates
