SDSA Part-Time Teacher Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY
Supports teachers and facilitates learning for students in a dual language, Spanish-English school with a primary focus on supporting the linguistic and literacy needs of second language learners. Supervises student conduct, instructs individual or small groups of students, supports school-wide assessment. This is a part time position with a minimum of 2 hours at SDSA per day and can be select days depending on the student schedule. Ideally each position hire would work at least 2 days per week for at least 2 hours per day however some flexibility may exist.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a student in good standing pursuing the career of education
- Completed at least 48 Credit Hours OR
- Receive acceptable scores from ACT- Work Keys
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Strong organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of the needs of students requiring remedial reading instruction
Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, students, parents
Ability to take guidance and support teachers as needed in the classroom
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce instructional material planned
Supports individual student’s access to the curriculum (note taking, reading, assistive technology, etc.)
Administers and supports assignments as assigned
Monitors students and supports positive behavior
Assists with lesson plans as needed by teacher
Maintain communication with classroom teachers regarding student progress
Perform other duties as assigned
