    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and certified School Nurse to provide high-quality healthcare and promote the well-being of students at Bow High School. As a key member of our school community, the School Nurse will play an essential role in ensuring that students are healthy, safe, and able to fully participate in the learning process. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to promoting a healthy school environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1.      Health Services & Clinical Care:

          ?  Provide nursing care to students for illness, injury, and chronic health conditions.
          ?  Assess students’ health needs and provide appropriate treatment or referrals to medical professionals.
          ?  Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following district policies and legal guidelines.
          ?  Manage students with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, or allergies, including developing and implementing individualized health care plans (IHCPs).
          ?  Monitor students with infectious diseases and manage protocols related to contagious conditions, ensuring compliance with public health guidelines.
          ?  Maintain and update students’ health records in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and school district policies.


    2.     Health Education & Promotion:

        ?  Provide health education on topics such as nutrition, mental health, disease prevention, and substance abuse.
        ?  Lead or assist in the delivery of health-related programs or initiatives to promote student wellness.
        ?  Offer guidance and support on health-related issues to students, staff, and families.


    3.     Emergency Response & First Aid:

        ?  Respond to medical emergencies promptly and effectively, including administering first aid and CPR as needed.
        ?  Maintain and oversee the first-aid kits, ensuring they are fully stocked and up to date.
        ?  Coordinate with local emergency services in case of serious injuries or medical emergencies.


    4.     Collaboration & Communication:

        ?  Work closely with the school administration, teachers, and staff to support students’ health needs and ensure a safe school environment.
        ?  Communicate with parents/guardians regarding health concerns
        ?  Participate in school health meetings, Tier II/III meetings, and collaborate with counselors, social workers, and other professionals when necessary.


    5.     Health Records & Documentation:

        ?  Keep accurate, detailed, and confidential health records for all students.
        ?  Ensure that health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.) are conducted and documented as required by state and district regulations.
        ?  Report on students’ health status as required by the school district or state.


    6.     Policy and Compliance:

        ?  Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding student health, including immunization requirements and mandated health screenings.
        ?  Act as a liaison between the school and public health authorities.


    Qualifications:

    ?  Current state certification as a Registered Nurse (RN).
    ?  School Nurse Certification (as required by state or district guidelines).
    ?  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    ?  Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.
    ?  Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
    ?  Knowledge of school health regulations and laws, including immunization and disease control.
    ?  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    ?  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    ?  Compassionate, patient, and capable of handling sensitive situations with professionalism and care.
