Portland Public Schools: Title One Lower Elementary Teacher, Oakwood Elementary
Portland Public Schools’ seeks an innovative and passionate education professional to join our intervention team to enhance the education experience for our students at Oakwood Elementary. The Interventionist/Teacher will provide intervention and supplementary instruction to individual students or small groups of students identified as needing targeted academic assistance. This position will begin with the 24/25 school year.
The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:
Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Understanding of, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment, common sense, and a calm demeanor
Impeccable character, a good sense of humor, and compassion for students, families, and staff
Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
Experience in working with special needs students
Willingness to undertake extra-curricular assignments
Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Elementary K-5 endorsement, ZG and reading endorsement
A minimum of 3 years teaching experience as a certified elementary teacher, 5 + year preferred
Highly Qualified to teach K-5 as per Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements
Strong base in the subject area content, common core standards
Ability to use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instruction
Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and district colleagues
Demonstrated ability to sustain and improve student achievement outcomes
Willingness to contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong collaboration, high staff and student morale, and positive community involvement

Calendar: As per District Calendar and PEA contract
Compensation: In accordance with PEA contract
