Job Description
 
Job Title:   ACE Enrichment/Tutor Instructor
The Edcouch-Elsa ISD ACE program will hire several enrichment instructors at each campus to help deliver the afterschool activities as outlined in the grant application.  Enrichment instructor are needed for homework help, tutoring, sports, arts, music, dance, and other enrichment activities. 
 
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
 
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
2. College Hours Preferred (Certification may be required depending on assignment)
3. Minimum one-year experience performing similar job responsibilities.
4. Must meet all School District Personnel Hiring Requirements.
5. Working knowledge in assigned activity content.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Assist in developing lesson plans based on approved activity description.
2. Facilitate lesson plans daily on assigned activity.
3. Facilitate acceptable classroom management practices at all times.
4. Supervise assigned students at all times.
5. Record daily attendance.
6. Assist with student bus transportation as assigned.
7. Provide support to other team members as needed or instructed.
8. Maintain and care for assigned supplies, equipment and materials.
9. Assist in disseminating daily snacks as assigned.
10. Assist campus and/or district in special projects as assigned.
11. Assist afterschool team in completing district, local, and state reports.
12. Perform any and all other duties as assigned by ACE site coordinator and/or Project Director.
 
Condition of Employment/Compensation/Supervision:
 
Enrichment instructors are hired either as hourly part-time At-Will Employees or as extra-duty employees depending on the professional status of the person. Compensation is based on district’s approved compensation policy.Enrichment instructor and/or tutor report directly to the campus ACE site coordinator and are supervised jointly by site coordinator and project director.Employment and work hours scheduled are contingent on campus grant needs. On average staff will be hired for 1 to 4 hours per day during before school and/or afterschool hours during the school year and during the summer program.Some evening and weekend work may be scheduled for special events.

This is a Grant Funded Position
 
Primary Purpose:
To provide supplemental instruction for students under the professional guidance and supervision of classroom/intervention teachers. Day tutors work with students individually or in small groups providing supplemental reading, writing, and/or mathematics instruction. Day tutors may work with students in and out of the regular classroom.
 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
College degree required, teacher certification preferred
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. 
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.
• Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
• Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs. 
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work. 
• Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
 
Experience:
Experience as classroom teacher with children in a professional/school setting
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
 
• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials in conjunction with the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
• Assists students, individually or in small groups, for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing intervention strategies.
• Attends meetings and in­service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. 
• Collaborates with instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents for the purpose of assisting in evaluating needs for and progress of intervention strategies. 
• Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success in academic skills. 
• Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives. 
• Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of curriculum and integrating intervention strategies.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
