JOB TITLE: EL Teacher
JOB GOAL: Provide instruction to students determined to be English Learners; monitor and ensure students progress.
REPORTS TO: Administration
QUALIFICATIONS: Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsements.
Read, write and communicate orally in English
Utilize applicable technology to support performance responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General Communicate and collaborate effectively with others.

Specific Administer and analyze identification screeners that determine a student’s eligibility for language learning services
Administer mandated English language proficiency assessments annually in accordance with state and district requirements
Monitor students’ language development
Track ELP data for reporting purposes
Collaborate with school and district teams around identification and assessment practice
Co-plan with colleagues for instruction and assessment
Differentiate instruction for different language proficiency levels
Develop instructional approaches rooted in best practices of Culturally Responsive Instruction, Culturally Relevant Instruction, and Culturally Sustainable Pedagogy
Provide academic language instruction that gives students access to grade-level content
Collaborate with grade-level teachers to plan, differentiate, and scaffold instruction
Serve as a resource to the building and district for English language concerns
Communicate with multilingual families in their home language, sharing outreach strategies with colleagues to increase their own capacity for communication with families
Support family engagement around school events and initiatives
Connect with stakeholders in ELL families’ communities, such as community organizations and religious institutions
