Position Summary:
The Center School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to join our team of professionals serving students with diverse developmental, intellectual, and behavioral disabilities. The RBT will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and The Principal to implement behavior intervention plans, support student learning, and promote functional independence in a structured, nurturing school environment.
Reports to The Exceutive Director and The Principal
NJ Registered Behavior Technician Certification required
Key Responsibilities:
Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as designed by the BCBA.
Provide 1:1 or small group support to students across school settings (classroom, therapy rooms, recess, etc.).
Collect and record accurate data on student behavior and skill acquisition in real time.
Assist in the development of communication, social, academic, and daily living skills using evidence-based strategies
Participate in team meetings, IEPs, and staff trainings as required.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school personnel to ensure consistency and fidelity of behavior plans.
Utilize proactive and positive behavior management strategies.
Support the academic, social and emotional needs of the students
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards at all times.
Qualifications:
Required: Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Preferred: Experience working in a special education or ABA setting with children or adolescents with disabilities (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, etc.).
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related field is a plus).
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Must pass background checks and clearances as required by school and state regulations.
Work Environment:
School-based setting; may involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to be physically active and present during crisis intervention, if needed.
