The Webster County Board of Education wishes to announce the following service personnel job vacancy:
POSITION: County-wide Licensed Practical Nurse
LOCATION: County-wide
EMPLOYMENT TERM: 200 days
REQUIREMENT:
1. Must hold a valid license from the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses
2. Criminal background check per WV Code §18-5-15c
3. The ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position as contained in the Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. "Licensed Practical Nurse" means a nurse licensed from the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses and employed to work in a public school under the supervision of a school nurse.
2. All responsibilities shall be fulfilled in consultation with and under the supervision of the certified school nurse and within the scope and practice of a West Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse.
3. Provide support for health services at the local school level to meet the health needs of students.
4. Under the supervision of the certified school nurse, document health information for appropriate school personnel and health care agencies.
5. Provide pertinent information to immediate supervisor.
6. Establish good public and employee relations.
7. Maintain professional work habits.
8. Maintain and upgrade his/her professional skills.
9. Assess the immunization status of children entering a West Virginia school for the first time, as well as required boosters, and provide a report to the certified school nurse.
10. Provide emergency care and first aid to injured/ill students and school personnel.
11. Required to follow and implement procedures described in health care plans
12. Demonstrate basic proficiency in specialized procedures such as but not limited to seizure management with emergency medication administration (Rectal Diazepam), diabetic management with glucose monitoring and insulin administration via subcutaneous injection or insulin pump, administration of medications including emergency medications such as Glucagon, EpiPens and Naloxone.
13. Administer medication to students as prescribed by a physician under the direction of the certified school nurse.
14. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent within the scope and practice of an LPN.
SALARY: State mandated pay scale. Salary based on experience and education and competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
