Specialized Skills | Master's Degree in Special Education; Certified as a special education teacher by the West Virginia Department of Education in at least two of the following three areas of specialization (preference for all three areas): -Behavior Disorders -Mental Impairments -Specific Learning Disabilities; Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in Special Education; Currently trained in: IDEA 2004, Policy 2419, Functional Behavior Assessment, development of behavior intervention plans, and appropriate IEP development; Preference given to those applicants holding an Educational Administration Certification. |
Additional Job Information | Knowledge and experience in the implementation of educational strategies, alternative curricula, and individualized instructional techniques; Knowledge and training in Physical Intervention Support Techniques; Knowledge and training in appropriate standardized assessment practices and protocol; Current knowledge and training in Special Education Policy and Procedures, specifically eligibility criteria and appropriate development of an IEP; Possesses a broad knowledge base of legal issues associated with the implementation of IDEA 2004 and West Virginia Policy 2419; Ability to work effectively with parents, administrators and teachers in the development of effective educational planning of students; Ability to assist classroom teachers in the implementation and development of appropriate and effective curricula for students; Perform other duties as assigned.
