    SPECIAL ED SPECIALIST - 215-DAY - ITINERANT

    Teacher salary, commensurate with experience and degree, plus $250/month supplement.
    Salary schedule is available on Raleigh County's website, http://boe.rale.k12.wv.us
               
    Reports To Allen Sexton, Director 
                
    Specialized Skills Master's Degree in Special
    Education;

    Certified as a special education teacher by the West Virginia Department of Education in at least two of the following three areas of specialization (preference for all three areas):
    -Behavior Disorders
    -Mental Impairments
    -Specific Learning Disabilities;

    Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in Special Education;

    Currently trained in: IDEA 2004, Policy 2419, Functional Behavior Assessment, development of behavior intervention plans, and appropriate IEP development;

    Preference given to those applicants holding an Educational Administration Certification.
     
    Additional Job Information Knowledge and experience in the implementation of educational strategies, alternative curricula, and individualized instructional techniques;
    Knowledge and training in Physical Intervention Support Techniques;
    Knowledge and training in appropriate standardized assessment practices and protocol;
    Current knowledge and training in Special Education Policy and Procedures, specifically eligibility criteria and appropriate development of an IEP;
    Possesses a broad knowledge base of legal issues associated with the implementation of IDEA 2004 and West Virginia Policy 2419;
    Ability to work effectively with parents, administrators and teachers in the development of effective educational planning of students;
    Ability to assist classroom teachers in the implementation and development of appropriate and effective curricula for students;
    Perform other duties as assigned.

    ATTENTION:
    All applicants for posted professional positions must include a list of "specialized training relevant to the performance of the duties of the job" as a Microsoft Word or PDF file in the Attachments tab within the Teach In WV system. The list must include the approximate dates, titles, and topics of the training. Additional documentation may be requested to verify authenticity. Specialized training will be considered based on the quality and relevance to the duties of the position. This factor will be awarded to the candidate having the most significant relevant specialized training

    All applicants not currently employed by Raleigh County Schools must include copies of "past performance evaluations conducted pursuant to WV Code 18A-2-12 and 18A-3c-2 or, in the case of a classroom teacher, past evaluations of the applicant's performance in the teaching profession as a certified educator". Each separate evaluation must be submitted as a single PDF document in the Attachments tab within the Teach In WV system.
     
     

    WILL PROVIDE COMPLIANCE AND CURRICULUM SUPPORT TO SPEECH, HEARING AND VISION TEACHERS.
