    Announcement of Long-term Temporary Substitute Service Vacancy
    (remainder of the 2024-2025 school year only)

      

    POSITION:           Long-Term Substitute ECCAT Aide 

     
    LOCATION:          Peterson-Central Elementary School
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:         As per State and County Regulations. Those presently employed or on the Aide Substitute List will be given preference.                                                 Applicant must possess a valid First Aid card and be certified in CPR.  Applicants not already employed must take and pass                                           the State Aide’s Competency Test.
     
    REQUIREMENTS:         If not already certified, applicant must be willing and able to obtain Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher credential.
     
    JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
    • Assist teacher(s) in implementing instructional program, working directly with children in small groups or one-to-one basis, establishing effective rapport with students assigned to PRE-K or K classroom, motivating students to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to provide good educational foundation, in accordance with each pupil's ability
     
    1. Assist teacher in instructional activities as directed.
    2. Shares in the responsibilities of protecting students, equipment, materials and facilities.
    3. Maintain positive work habits.
    4. Perform duties efficiently and productively.
    5. Performs specialized health care procedures pursuant to WV Code 18-5-22 (suctioning of tracheotomy, NASO-gastric tube feedings or gastrostomy tube feeding, catheterization, etc..)
    6. Perform any and all other related duties assigned by the classroom teacher, building principal or appropriate county supervisor.
    7. Assist teacher as needed with planning, preparation, and distribution of classroom materials
    8. Maintain environment that is safe for students and conducive to learning
    9. Assist with supervision and instruction of children; copying, cutting, coloring, etc., to construct materials and bulletin boards
    10. Provide individualized and small-group instruction to reinforce skills that have been taught by the teacher
    11. Attend in-services and workshops, as directed
    12. Maintain confidentiality, unquestionable integrity
    13. Assist the teacher in supervision of children in the classroom and to various locations in the school including, but not limited to, instructional areas, the cafeteria, and the bus
    14. Participate in bus duty, hall monitoring, lunchroom duty, playground duty and other duties assigned by the building supervisor or principal
    15. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to crawl, sit, stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions
    16. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and/or move at least 50 pounds (100 pounds vertically for Special Education and Transportation positions) of materials, children, etc

    2. Ability to demonstrate patience while working with children
    3. Ability to learn new skills; flexibility and willingness to perform a variety of tasks
    4. Ability to work well with others, follow written and oral directions and complete assignments given
    5. Ability to work with individuals and groups of students to support academics and behavior management
    6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and staff members
    7. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions whether furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form consistent with the duties of this position
    8. Ability to accurately perform assigned tasks
    9. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
    10. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus
    11. ECCAT/Aide must ensure that children are supervised at all times, and that children are involved in safe and appropriate activities
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to crawl, sit, stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and/or move at least 50 pounds (100 pounds vertically for Special Education and Transportation positions) of materials, children, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members. The individual may come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff and themselves. Proper restraining may be required to ensure children are safe if they are at risk of hurting themselves or others.
     
    SCHEDULE:                 7:30AM – 3:00PM (hours will be flexible to cover duties)
     
    SALARY:                      As provided in West Virginia Code 18A-4-8 and 18A-48A
     
    TERM:                                200 Days  (prorated for the 2024-2025 school year)
               
    This position is for the remainer of the 2024-2025 school year only. The successful applicant will not have preferred recall rights and will execute a contract that ends at the conclusion of the current school year.
