POSITION 25P28B TITLE: Therapeutic Services/Health Occupations Instructor (Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor)

QUALIFICATIONS: Wage-Earning Experience –
Bachelor’s Degree – Hold a bachelor’s degree in an area related to the specialization AND complete two years (4,000 clock hours) of satisfactory and reasonably continuous work experience in the area for which licensure is requested which includes one year (2,080 hours) in a certified nursing home, or distinct part of a hospital that meets the requirements of subacute/rehabilitation/nursing home experience;
OR Associate Degree – Hold an Associate Degree in an area related to the specialization AND complete two (2) years (4,000 clock hours) of satisfactory and reasonably continuous work experience in the area for which licensure is requested which includes one year (2,080 hours) in a certified nursing home, or distinct part of a hospital that meets the requirements of subacute/rehabilitation/nursing home experience.
The teaching endorsement will be for grades 9-AD and the position will be commensurate with an assignment primarily in grades 9-12. The applicant must possess the ability to successfully manage an instructional program for secondary school age children and adults.
The successful applicant will be required to pass a basic skills test, a state and federal background check, and must complete the WVDE Teach Preparation program to continue employment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will:
1. Deliver, direct and supervise student learning, safety rules, and discipline in the classroom/lab. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
2. Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time
3. Instruct pupils in subject areas as specified in state law, curricula, and guidelines established by the local board of education and administrative regulations
4. Provide individual and small group instruction whenever appropriate
5. Adapt curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and special abilities
6. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive environment
7. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day by planning, scheduling, and monitoring clinical sessions
8. Evaluate each pupil’s performance and growth in knowledge and understanding; monitor progress toward learning outcomes; prepare progress reports
10. Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress; promote positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships
11. Maintain basic attendance, accounting, and business services, as required
12. Serve as resource person on interdepartmental level
13. Adhere to all federal, state, and local educational policies
14. Report to work one-half hour prior to start of school and remain at least ten minutes after close of school
15. Perform all other duties as assigned, according to need, by the school principal.
16. Participate in student youth organizations (HOSA)
