Positions 1. 2 Positions – Guided Independent Reading Practice (GIRP) Teacher (1 Full Day; 1 Half Day) 2. 2 Positions – Read Aloud, Vocabulary, and Fluency (RAvFL) Teacher (1 Full Day; 1 Half Day) 3. 4 Positions – Do the Math Teacher (2-Full Day; 2-Half Day) 4. 1 Position – Healthy Choices Teacher (Half Day) 5. 1 Position – STEM (Half Day) 6. 1 Position – Site Assistant (Full Day) 7. 3 Positions – Substitute Teacher (as needed)
Roles and Responsibilities for GIRP/RAvFL Teachers
Work with the Site Coordinator to plan and/or implement an established plan for appropriate activities during literacy programming. Implement either guided independent reading practice or daily read-alouds and fluency-building activities during the summer program. Participate in all trainings related to the component area you will be implementing (GIRP or RAvFL). Assist with organizing the Accelerated Reader library, if appropriate. Work with the Site Coordinator to plan literacy activities that you will be implementing, as needed. Incorporate 30 minutes of planning daily into schedule to prepare for programming. Address individual children’s needs under the guidance of the Site Coordinator. Lead administering pre- and post-STAR Reading, STAR Early Literacy, tutorials, and emergent reader module assessments, and identifying students in need of interventions, as appropriate. Facilitate STEM activities for students in the afternoon. Identify and assist students in completing a community service project. Submit group attendance to the Site Coordinator as designated by program policy. Supervise field trips, including trips to the pool. Supervise students during breakfast and lunch. Complete Activity Log daily to track lessons. Roles and Responsibilities for Do the Math Teachers
Work with the Site Coordinator to plan and/or implement an established plan for appropriate activities during mathematics programming. Implement mathematics routines, hands-on mathematics activities, games, and/or basic fact fluency-building activities during the summer program. Participate in all trainings related to the component area you will be implementing (Do the Math Program or Do the Math Games). Assist with organizing and maintaining mathematics manipulatives and preparing materials for activities, as needed. Incorporate 30 minutes of planning daily into schedule to prepare for programming. Address individual children’s needs under the guidance of the Site Coordinator. Lead administering pre- and post-assessments, including STAR Mathematics, and identifying students in need of interventions, as appropriate. Work with identified children struggling in mathematics in Grades 1-6 who would benefit from small group assistance in mathematics. Facilitate STEM activities for students in the afternoon. Identify and assist students in completing a community service project. Complete Activity Log daily to track lessons. Submit group attendance to the Site Coordinator as designated by program policy. Roles and Responsibilities for Healthy Choices Teacher
Provide hands-on guidance and practice children about physical activity and healthy eating. Utilize appropriate activities within Save the Children’s Physical Activity Toolkit to implement daily 30-minute rotations of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity with all participating children. Conduct weekly 15-minute nutrition education lesson using the CATCH Healthy Habits & Nutrition Curriculum, and other approved lessons and materials. Submit group attendance daily to the Site Coordinator as designated by program policy. Complete Activity Log daily to track lessons. Roles and Responsibilities for STEM Teacher
Provide hands-on instruction for students in Grades 1 – 6 in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics using STEM Bins and other materials as needed during 45-minute sessions. Incorporate 30 minutes of planning daily into schedule to prepare for programming. Address individual children’s needs under the guidance of the Site Coordinator. Participate in all trainings related to the component area (STEM). Complete Activity Log daily to track lessons. Submit group attendance to the Site Coordinator as designated by program policy. Roles and Responsibilities for Site Assistant
Greet visitors. Assist with sign-in and sign-out of students. Answer telephone. Perform clerical duties. Assist Site Coordinato,r as needed.

Qualifications Successful candidates must have teacher and/or administrative certification at the appropriate programmatic level. Should no certified teacher or administrator apply, other applicants will be considered (e.g., college students, community members, substitute teachers, service personnel).
*Successful candidates must complete mandatory training conducted by Save the Children prior to the start of the program.
Compensation $200 per day for full day instructors $150 per day for half-day instructors
