Positions available: ESYS Elementary Teacher / ESYS High School Teacher / Paraprofessional
Session Dates & Times: (16 total sessions)
- July 21-24 (Monday - Thursday)
- July 28-August 1 (Monday - Thursday)
- August 4, 5 & 8
- August 11-14 (Monday - Thursday)
Hours: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Location: Waverly-Shell Rock Middle School Position Overview:
The Extended School Year (ESY) program provides continued educational services for students who qualify for ESY as determined by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). ESY staff members will support students in maintaining critical skills, reducing regression, and promoting engagement in learning through individualized and structured instruction.
TEACHER
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and/or support to students based on their IEP goals and ESY programming needs.
- Implement and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student needs, including behavioral, academic, communication, and life skills development.
- Collaborate with ESY staff, including paraprofessionals and administrators, to ensure effective service delivery.
- Collect data and monitor student progress toward goals as outlined in their IEPs.
- Maintain a structured and positive learning environment that supports student engagement.
- Communicate with families regarding student participation, progress, and any concerns.
Elementary Teacher Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction based on students' IEP goals in areas such as literacy, math, communication, and social-emotional skills.
- Use developmentally appropriate teaching methods to address individual student needs and learning styles.
- Support students in maintaining and practicing skills to reduce regression over the summer.
High School Teacher Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction based on students' IEP goals in areas such as literacy, math, communication, and social-emotional skills.
- Adapt instruction to meet the unique needs of high school students, incorporating real-world applications where appropriate.
- Support students in maintaining and practicing skills to reduce regression over the summer.
Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate endorsements.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, particularly those with significant learning and behavioral needs.
- Ability to implement and adapt instructional strategies to support student progress.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

ESYS Paraprofessional - 10 openings
Responsibilities:
- Support students based on their IEP goals and ESYS programming needs.
- Collaborate with ESYS staff, including teachers and administrators, to ensure effective service delivery.
- Collect data and monitor student progress toward goals as outlined in their IEPs.
- Maintain a structured and positive learning environment that supports student engagement.
- Assist students with personal care needs if applicable.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with disabilities, particularly those with significant learning and behavioral needs.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Paraprofessionals must have experience working with students with disabilities and be comfortable providing behavioral and instructional support.
