Bus Driver Salary Schedule (Policy GDBA-E-1)

TITLE: Bus Driver
REPORTS TO: Maintenance & Transportation Director or Designee
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equavlent preferred (pending Board approval 11/13/23)
Must be 18 years or older
Certified as a School Bus Driver (certified and licensed with school bus endorsement) or willingness to become certified.
Meet State CDL & CDE requirements and qualifications for school bus drivers.
Be dependable.
Effectively maintain control and order of passengers.
Be physically and mentally able to work with individuals with disabilities.
Prefer previous experience with children.
Positive attitude and ability to work positively and cooperatively with children and adults is considered essential.
Must successfully pass initial UA and random drug and alcohol testing
Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) must meet Insurance Eligibility Standards yearly
SUPERVISES: None
JOB GOAL: Drive a school bus for the purpose of transporting regular
individuals and those with disabilities. To drive an assigned
route and to communicate effectively with parents,
passengers, and school personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of passengers.
Will keep confidential information within the educational setting and will refrain from any discussion concerning student information with anyone outside of the school staff who have a need to know.
The bus driver will adhere to all policies and procedures of Wray School District RD-2.
Provide a safe ride and friendly atmosphere.
Consult with supervisor on new riders or change of route.
Immediately report any bus maintenance needs to the supervisor.
Maintain radio contact with base for communications and use airways exclusively for business.
Cooperate with other drivers, bus aides and instructional staff.
Follow procedures for infraction of bus rules for passengers.
Follow procedures for inclement weather.
Drive routes and serve as a bus aide if requested.
Work with teachers and itinerant staff toward implementation of student objectives.
Handle individual needs and behavior problems positively and effectively.
Attend required meetings.
Report excessive or unusual behavior problems to supervisor.
Report any bus damage or accidents immediately to the supervisor.
Perform and report emergency evacuation drills twice yearly.
Maintain a clean bus inside and out.
Complete necessary District Trainings
Other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year as described in district policy.
EVALUATION:
Performance of the bus driver will be evaluated annually by the Maintenance & Transportation Director following the evaluation criteria as written in the RD-2 Policy Manual.
