Directly responsible to the Supervisor or Lead Custodian and through him/her to the District Facilities Manager and the Business Administrator.
The Substitute Custodian will provide students with a safe, clean environment for education.
 
Performance of Duties:
Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.
Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture.
Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it.
Scrub and disinfect toilet floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
To shovel, plow, and/or sand walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.
Check regularly to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
Maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
Clean all chalkboards.
Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
To comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:  Will require a criminal history background check and physical.

Rate:  $15.13 per hour

EDUCATION:          High School Diploma
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.  Minimum five years of supervisory experience in supervision of plant facilities.
2.  Knowledge of and experience in labor contracts.
3.  Must hold a Black Seal License.
4.  Must hold a Certified Educational Facilities Manager certificate.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Directs, supervises, and evaluates the work of maintenance, custodial, and grounds personnel.
2. Assumes responsibilities for responses to emergencies in the area of plant facilities.
3. Recommends maintenance, custodial, grounds, and warehouse personnel for employment and dismissal.
4. Prepares specifications for maintenance, custodial, and grounds goods and services to be bid or quoted and utilizes other personnel or sources as needed.
5. Makes recommendations to the School Business Administrator for the acquisition of maintenance, custodial, and grounds purchases.
6. Reviews purchase requisitions for varied operation and maintenance equipment, materials, and supplies for accuracy and suitability.
7. Maintains records of all equipment and stock.
8. Follows up on supplies and equipment returned to vendor.
9. Prepares reports as directed by the School Business Administrator.
10. Reviews work orders received from program managers and assures their completion.
11. Oversees the work of contractors engaged by the District for construction and facilities maintenance.
12. Oversees the purchase and use of supplies in the area of plant facilities to assure efficient and appropriate use of resources.
13. Inspects buildings for safety and to determine maintenance needs.
14. Prepares and oversees the budget in the area of plant facilities and offers recommendations for future budgeting needs.
15. Conducts staff meetings to resolve problems and increase efficiency.
16. Offers recommendations to the Business Administrator in the interest of efficient use of resources including recommendations for the negotiations process.
17. Develops multi-year plans for the care of school facilities.
18. Meets with principals and program managers for communication on matters relating to facilities maintenance.
19. Implements the negotiated contract and communicates related concerns to the Business Administrator.
20. Oversees the use of supplies and care of equipment to assure efficient use of supplies and safe and proper care of equipment.
21. Assures District compliance with all Federal, state and local regulations in the area of plant facilities.
22. Submits periodic reports as required including accident reports and payroll and personnel reports.
23. Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
1.    Valid New Jersey Driver's License
2.    Possess a New Jersey In-Charge Boiler License.
3.    Knowledge In-Computer Operation for energy management system.
 


RESPONSIBILITY: 
The Boiler Engineer is directly responsible to the Manager of Plant Facilities and, through him/her, to the Assistant Superintendent for Business/Board Secretary and the Superintendent of Schools.

FUNCTION:
 
The Boiler Engineer must be capable of functioning in the maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance of all makes of boilers within the school district.
 

PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES:
 
1. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all district boilers.
    

2. Must possess the knowledge to perform daily inspection of all equipment related to heating and ventilation within the district.Must possess knowledge of installing coaxial or fitter cable for computers and telecommunications equipment.

3. Must have the capability to make repairs on equipment indicated:

    

   A. Electric controls

    

   B. Pneumatic equipment, blowers, fans, pumps, compressors, and burners

4. Have knowledge of Steam Boilers for providing steam for cooking purposes in the district's Central Kitchen.
    

5. Knowledge for shutting down boilers and valves of all heating systems, dismantle boilers, fireside, and water side for summer cleaning, and necessary repairs.
    

6. Capability for cleaning, and making repairs for yearly New Jersey State inspections.
    

7. Capability and knowledge for making necessary repairs to burner assembly.
 
       8.  Possess knowledge and capability to perform the following:
 
            A. Calibrate Pneumatic Controls
 
            B. Test fire burner for boilers
 
            C. Inspect, and make necessary repairs to pumps, fans, blowers, compressors, and water tanks and air tanks.
 
9. Make periodic inspections of equipment to locate, and correct defects before breakdown occurs.
 
      10. Knowledge in the utilization of chemicals for Domestic Hot Water System.
 
11. Possess the capability to inspect boilers, and make the necessary repairs 
 
          before breakdown occurs. (Internal and External)
 
    12.  Must work with the district assigned engineering firm when major repairs to equipment exists.
 
    13.  Must advise management if continued operation of equipment would be hazardous.
 
    14.  Must perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Plant Facilities.

Must be capable of functioning in the maintenance, repair, modification and installation of all voltage electrical equipment and systems associated with generation, distribution controls and motor repairs.

PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES:
 
1. Is responsible for assembling, installing and maintaining electrical systems within the district facilities.
2. Must be knowledgeable in the understanding and reading of blueprints for installing wiring in offices and classrooms in conduit (pipe and tubing) inside partitions, walls, or other areas as designated by building plans.
3. Must possess knowledge of installing coaxial or fitter cable for computers and telecommunications equipment.
4. Must advise management if continued operation of equipment would be hazardous.
5. Must make periodic inspections of equipment to locate and correct defects before breakdowns occur.
6. Must work with the district-assigned engineering firm when working with complex electronic devices.
7. Must follow strict safety rules to prevent injury from electrical shocks, falls and cuts.
8. Must have the knowledge to set up and draw diagrams for entire electrical systems.
9. Must have the capability to perform work on food service equipment, alarm systems, all types of electrical appliances, exhaust fans, heaters and boilers.
10. Must perform all other duties as assigned by the Manager of  Facilities.
