Position Summary:
The Elementary School Principal is responsible for the overall management and operations of the school, including the supervision and formal evaluation of all building employees, scheduling students and staff, curriculum and the physical plant. He/she performs various other administrative tasks associated with the position.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree plus Doctorate preferred.
- Certification: Active and valid PA Principal’s Certification.
- Three (3) years’ experience at the supervisory or administrative level.
- Performs a variety of duties, able to make judgments and work under a high level of stress.

Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide general supervision and direction to all staff persons, both professional and support, either personally or through the assistant principals; responsible for the formal evaluation of all staff members.
- Serve as instructional leader within the building, ensuring proper placement of students within the overall educational program. Responsible for the overall scheduling and analyzing of student data and Pennsylvania school assessment test results in order to align the curriculum to the student’s needs.
- Coordinate the school curriculum, design, development, implementation and evaluation in cooperation with the Assistant Superintendent.
- Responsible for overall building discipline, attendance, and grade reporting programs. Ensure that all the above are consistent within district policy and guidelines.
- Responsible for development of the master schedule along with designating staff special assignments.
- Plan, attend and preside over meetings with staff and also with the Superintendent and central office staff on various tasks, projects and departmental/curriculum areas.
- Perform various administrative tasks such as completing internal and external forms, submitting reports as required, maintaining accurate records and administering the labor agreements in a fair and consistent manner.
- Responsible for implementing practices and procedures to insure an adequate supply of books, equipment and material necessary for instruction as provided by budgetary guidelines.
- Assist with selection, assignment, orientation and training of staff in cooperation with central office.
- Coordinate the school extracurricular programs. Evaluate these programs by regular attendance at these events.
- Prepare building budget and spending plan making certain that educational materials (textbooks, software, etc.), equipment and supply requisitions (Athletic Trainer, Art, Nurse, Science, Industrial Arts and Physical Education) are prepared under established guidelines.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with parents, parental groups, and community members.
- Work with central administrative staff on school problems that encompass the entire district or a portion.
- Maintain and control the various fund accounts generated by student activities.
- Responsible for a safe and sanitary building, which is operated in compliance with acceptable standards of heating, lighting and ventilators. Work closely with building and grounds and cafeteria staff to achieve these standards.
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships with students, staff, parents, administrators, and community members.
- Ability to attend work regularly at assigned work hours, subject to lawful leave rights and responsibilities.
- Ability to use laptop or desktop computer presentation and instructional software, current software/technology packages, and related equipment.
- Ability and knowledge to use the internet and other data management programs to facilitate student data management and student growth as an instructional aid and research tool.
- Ability and knowledge to use technology to communicate with students, parents, staff, administrators, and community members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.

Salary, work year, and other terms and conditions of employment as established by contract between Whitehall-Coplay School District, Superintendent, and the Whitehall-Coplay School District Board of Directors.
