    Job Objective: Clinical Health Science is a two-year career & technical healthcare profession program in a public high school. The instructor will be responsible for facilitating learning by identifying and understanding individual characteristics of all students taught and present subject matter accordingly; manage the classroom by organizing it to stimulate learning and to foster discipline; make professional decisions about what to teach and across subject areas based on available curriculum guidelines. 
     
    The Clinical Health Science Program is an Ohio State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification Program. The curriculum is a Basic Health Care Curriculum  that includes 60 lab and patient care skills, medical terminology, First Aid, BLS- CPR & AED, Phlebotomy, EKG,  guest speakers, field trips and real-world clinical experiences

               
             
    Minimum Qualifications: 
    •  Associate’s degree can be accepted.
    •  Bachelor's degree in Nursing PREFERRED
    • Ohio Department of Education (ODE ) teaching license OR 5 years of experience caring for the elderly or chronically ill in a long-term care facility, such as a rehabilitation center/nursing home, doctor's office, hospital, urgent care facility and/or other locations
    •  Must be willing to be certified as an ODE Licensed Career Technical Education Instructor within five years
    • Knowledge of principles in methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for students
    • Advanced communications (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills
    • Logic and reasoning skills to identify solutions, conclusions or approaches to problem
    • Plan and/or promoting programs which enhance the, social or emotional growth of students
    • Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission and values of the Warrensville Heights City School District
    • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population
    • Meet many and varied deadlines and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive.
    • Perform other specific job-related duties as directed.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are typical work responsibilities.  A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions. 
    •  Prepares and delivers lectures to students on various topics in relation to a specific discipline
    •  Evaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments and papers. 
    •  Prepares course materials such as daily lesson plans, homework assignments, handouts. 
    • Keeps abreast of development in the field by reading current literature, speaking with  colleagues and participating in professional conferences 
    •  Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records 
    •  Initiates, facilitates and moderates classroom discussion 
    •  As needed, advise students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues 
    •  Plans, evaluates and revises course materials and methods of instruction 
    •  Complies, administers and grades examinations 
    •  Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching issues 
    •  Selects and obtains materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipment 
    •  Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter. 
    •  Facilitate textbook adoptions for the specific content area. 
    •  Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined in the program of study which has been approved by the Ohio Department of Education. 
    •  Notify parents and administration if the student is not meeting classroom goals. ? Maintain and improve professional competence. 
    •  Prepare lesson plans, develop and present demonstrations related to food production. 
    •  Walk throughout classroom monitoring student progress. 
    •  Additional assignments that are necessary to operate the restaurant.
    •  Possess a working knowledge of “front of the house” and “back of the house” and show ability to convey to students 
    •  Ensure the safety of students 
    •  Teach and evaluate the students using sound instructional practices. 
    •  Effectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a good 
    •  Provide guidance and counsel to the students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational development.
    •  Distribute homework assignments 
    •  Ensure students are learning all subject material by regular evaluation which includes testing or quizzing on a regular basis.
    • Provide complete lesson plans for a substitute 
    •  Assist the administration in implementing all procedures and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure for the classroom,  and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner 
    • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities 
    •  Act as teacher, facilitator and information source in subject area specialty 
    • Identify student needs, and cooperate with other professional staff in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems 
    • Promote good public relations through personal appearance, attitude, and conversation 
    • Observe ethics of the teaching profession; exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment 
    • Instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated 
    • Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents 
    • Refer students with learning disabilities for diagnosis on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required
