Primary Purpose:
The Multilingual Intervention Specialist provides intervention and/or classroom supports for students that are designated as Emergent Bilinguals by the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) to increase their language proficiency. Multilingual Intervention Specialists work closely with the Emergent Bilingual’s classroom teacher to provide support in the classroom and pull select Emergent Bilinguals for additional small group intervention. Staff document all interventions provided to scholars, in addition to fostering a multilingual community amongst the campus.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Instructional and EL Support Responsibilities
o Provide individualized and small group instruction using MLP curriculum and materials in order to meet the needs of the Emergent Bilinguals.
§ Assess, analyze, and respond, to the needs of EBs by selecting appropriate materials and implementing appropriate programs.
o Pushes into classrooms to support the language acquisition on Emergent Bilingual scholars.
o Instruct students in basic English Language foundational skills and primary language to facilitate academic success, supporting them as needed daily.
o Ensure EB students have appropriate curriculum accommodations, acceleration, resources etc.; working collaboratively with teachers for EBs to accomplish their language proficiency goals.
o Implement an ongoing assessment of the EB scholars in the program and make adaptations based on the results.
o Meet with parents, classroom teachers, and administration regularly to provide update on scholar’s performance.
o Attends all Multilingual Programs trainings and collaboration days.
o Attend or assist with LPAC meetings, participate in parent conferences and staff meetings as needed.
o Collaborate with all staff in a school and support on-going staff development and leadership.
o Serve as a consultant for purposes of referrals to other programs such as Title 1, Special Education, SST, and others to assure neither the under nor over representation of EB students.
· Classroom/Small Group Management and Organization
o Prepare classroom/intervention space to enhance learning and to aid in physical, social and emotional development of students.
o Support student behavior in agreement with the scholar code of character.
o Ensure necessary and reasonable measures are taken to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
§ Maintain ESL materials for Emergent Bilinguals only
o Provide input on Tier I book, equipment and material selection to support language development in the classroom.
· Documentation and Law
o Support the EB identification process led by the Multilingual Compliance Coordinator including review of student information and testing of students.
o Support the gathering, managing, and digital reporting of records and other documents required by Chapter 89.
o Abide by all policies established by federal and state law that apply to charter schools and ESL/bilingual programming.
o Support teachers in obtaining their ESL certification.

· Reporting Structure
o This position will report to and be managed by the specified campus administration.
o This position falls under the Multilingual department, in which:
§ 90% of the assigned duties should be spent directly on instructional support of Emergent Bilinguals
§ The Multilingual team will provide resources and training throughout the year, this includes but is not limited to the Coordinators of Emergent Bilinguals and the CMO Multilingual management staff

Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
o Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B. A./ B.S.) from an accredited college or university required. Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
o Experience Requirements: Applicants should have minimum 2 years teaching experience in subject area.
o Special Skills/Certifications: Must have a valid Texas Teacher Certification with endorsement in ESL or bilingual education for dual language campuses.
Required Skills/Abilities:
o Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to set priorities. Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, students, and parents.
o Bilingual Skills: Preferred bilingualism of the language most represented by the students (Spanish at most schools). Spanish speaking required for dual language campuses.
o Technology: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to use basic office equipment. The ability to learn and use other software as necessary.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
Work Environment: The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Travel to respective campus for job duties is required. Additional travel might be asked for professional development purposes. The environment requires proximity to other employees, frequent interruptions, extended periods of time viewing a computer screen, and noise levels from moderate to high. There may be activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature. There may be time spent outside to support with campus duties.

Criminal records check, pre-hire and annually thereafter, if applicable. Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization.

Starting Salary: $60,000
