Position: Intervention Specialist - Preschool (2 FTE's)
Reports to: Director of Burbank Early Childhood School (BECS)
Employment Status: Regular/Full-time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Licensure: Preschool Special Education *required*, Dual Licensed *preferred*.
Description: Provide academic, functional, and behavioral instructional support for special education students by designing and implementing individualized programing.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university
Valid Ohio Special Education Teaching Certificate/License
Satisfactory criminal background check in accordance with Ohio law
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities
Knowledge of IEP development
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively

Essential Functions:
Ensure safety of students
Assist in providing staff development activities related to modification and adaptation of curriculum and instruction
Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records as required
Communicate regularly with parents and professional staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of student
Serve as a building resource person to identify and provide instructional materials and strategies which diagnose and respond to individual student competencies and needs
Assist the special education student in making an assessment of his/her abilities and in establishing educational and vocational occupational goals in keeping with these abilities
Participate in supporting the Multi-tiered System of Support process within the building
Assist in reviewing the implementation of 504 Plans and IEPs
Provide modeling of specific teaching strategies for the classroom teacher
Provide additional support for classroom teachers through information on research, changes in the law, and speakers on relevant topics
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
Attend meetings and in-services as required per negotiated agreement
Observe ethics of the profession and comply with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct of Ohio Educators
Additional Working Conditions: Interaction and intervention with children who are experiencing dysregulation and/or have experienced trauma
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 25 pounds, e.g., paper boxes, deliveries of supplies and equipment
Occasional travel, e.g., attending workshop outside of district
Frequently remain in a stationary period for extended periods
Frequently move and position self as necessary to access and operate equipment, supervise students, and/or maintain appropriate discipline
Frequently move around workspace and travel throughout school building and/or school district
Employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment with the district.
