Function / Position Summary
To play a critical role in providing direct support, training and vocational services to participating students with disabilities whose goal is to be independent through employment.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Work with students who have an IEP to develop job training skills at community work sites.
- Train students to complete job tasks and educational/functional skill activities.
- Provide total assistance including proper lifting techniques for individuals with increased support needs, as necessary.
- Facilitate implementation of functional community-based curriculum to guide the development of functional objectives most likely to help the individual reach his/her personal goals.
- Attend meetings and in-service trainings as assigned.
- Travel within the district and surrounding communities (required).
- Promote quality job performance and task completion with each individual student.
- Promote appropriate use of communication and social skills.
- Supervise and train so they can progress and learn how to perform their job accurately, efficiently, safely, and successfully.
- Assist in the development of task analysis for specific work skills.
- Maintain awareness of all safety activities in the workplace and immediately report any safety hazards and accidents to the immediate supervisor.
- Monitor and maintain accurate documentation including daily progress on individual objectives, work production, and worksite performance data for the Vocational Coordinator.
- Work in various vocational settings guiding students to reach their highest level of employment, learning, growth, and independence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education - High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience / Knowledge - Knowledge of various disabilities, challenges, and constraints impacting employment for persons with disabilities.
- Ability to supervise and communicate effectively.
- Minimum of three years of work experience.
- Previous experience working with students preferred.
Physical Demands - Subject to sitting, walking, and standing for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials up to 30lbs. with proper technique.
- Occasional stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, and reaching.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors.
Environmental Conditions
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Public contact requiring appropriate business-like apparel.
Terms of Employment - Transportation is required

Evaluation
Performance of the position will be evaluated with provisions set by the Board of Education as per support service personnel.
Hourly Rate $23.66
