Performance Duties & Responsibilities: To facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; by actively collaborating with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy and learning. Provide age-appropriate, culturally & ethically sensitive care. Organize and maintain the school clinic. Administer medications and treatments to students based on physicians orders, parent authorization, School Board Policy and The Nurse Practice Act. Coordinate and maintain health care for students with chronic illnesses. Provide health education as needed or required. Provide staff training and education as needed or required. Utilize technology as appropriate to the function of the job. Obtain CEU’s as required by the Georgia Board of Nursing. Conduct CPR/AED training for system employees annually. Collaborates with school personnel and parents on health issues for students. Implements all screening programs mandated by Georgia Law. Consult with local physicians regarding health care of students. Assist with the School System Wellness Program. Maintain all necessary documentation. Develop individual health plans as needed for students. Other Functions: Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit are met. |
Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 65% walking/standing, 25% sitting, and 10% Occasional lifting/carrying/push/pull and/or assisting students with physical needs. May involve physical tasks, such as assisting students with mobility, transferring between wheelchairs and desks, supporting students with toileting, positioning, and personal care. |
