Transylvania County Schools seeks a compassionate and skilled mental health professional to provide support, guidance, and therapeutic services to high school students. This role involves promoting emotional well-being, fostering a positive school environment, and empowering students to overcome challenges that impact their mental health and academic success.  This is a contracted position, Hourly Pay Rate of $55/hour, up to 30 hours/week; no employment benefits.
The mental health professional would hold an LCMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) non-provisional license. An applicant with a provisional license (LCMHCA or LCSWA) may be considered with special provisions. 

Job Description:
 
1. Counseling and Support:

    

   1. Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing emotional, social, or behavioral challenges.

   2. Offer crisis intervention and support for students facing urgent mental health issues.

   3. Work with School Counseling staff to make referrals for Blue Ridge Health or outside providers as necessary. 

2. Assessment and Monitoring:

    

   1. Conduct suicide assessments in accordance to Transylvania County Schools Suicide Protocol.

   2. Monitor progress and provide follow-up care as necessary.

3. Collaboration and Advocacy:

    

   1. Work closely with teachers, school administrators, and parents to address students' mental health needs.

   2. Act as a liaison between the school and external mental health resources or agencies when necessary.

   3. Advocate for students' well-being within the school environment.

4. Compliance and Ethics:

    

   1. Adhere to all ethical guidelines, confidentiality regulations, and state licensing requirements.

   2. Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in mental health and adolescent development.

Transylvania County Schools seeks a Career and Technical Education Career Development Coordinator.  Position is available August 1, 2025. Position is full-time (40 hours per week) and includes employment benefits; 11-month employment term. Salary will be based on North Carolina's teacher salary schedule.  Applicants for the position must hold or be eligible to hold NC educator licensure in areas 747 (Career Development Cooridnator). Applicants should possess relevant experience that includes one year within the past five years in business, industry, labor, classroom teacher in a Career and Technical Education program area, or professional support in an educational setting: Career Development Coordinator, Special Populations Coordinator, Curriculum Specialist, or Instructional Technology Specialist.  Job duties include CTE career exploration for fifth through eighth grades and coordination of work sites for job shadowing internships/apprenticeships. One additional requirement includes the completion of a 40-hour Induction Program.

Transylvania County Schools seeks a bus monitor for the exceptional children program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: 
 
• Assist the bus driver in maintaining discipline on school bus; monitor and assist students while bus is in operation.
• Consult with and assist bus driver in documentation of student information, recordkeeping and completing route surveys.
• Assist driver in assuring seat belts, harnesses and wheel chair clamps are secured as required.
• Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students; coordinate seating of pre-kindergarten students as required by State Transportation Guidelines.
• Communicate with teachers, teacher assistants, principals, and parents concerning student background, medical problems and behavior as appropriate.
• Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures.
• Assist handicapped children on and off the bus and escort children across street upon return home; lift children as required; assure responsible adult meets students leaving the bus.
• Attend in-service meetings and training courses as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular attendance
• Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
• Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
• Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds
• Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
