RSU 12 is looking for a Functional Skills Teacher who has experience working individually or with small groups of students with unique challenges to develop basic life skills and access curriculum at their ability levels.  There is a dynamic team and supports embedded into this program.  The successful candidate will hold a 282-Teacher of Students with Disabilities or a 286-Teacher of the Severely Impaired certificate as defined by the Maine Department of Education and CHRC.


Job Goal: This position requires a qualified candidate who is passionate about working with students in a functional life skills setting.


The candidate must demonstrate comfort and proficiency with teaching, implementing, and supervising activities of daily living.  This position is responsible for performing Special Education Case Manager duties including, but not limited to, implementing specially designed instruction and coordinating related services, as well as community-based programming. In addition this candidate will be proficient in data collection, writing evidence based IEPs focused on individual student needs, and completing all IEP paperwork to support student programming.
A strong supervisory background working with Educational Technicians providing feedback and oversight on a daily basis is desired.  Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential to this job. The candidate will be communicating and collaborating with colleagues, administrators, parents, students, and community members.  The candidate must be able to demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and optimism as an educator, leader, and learner.

Position:  Social Worker - Part Time

Must hold current Maine Clinical Licensure  and CHRC certificate.
Must be able to provide social skill instruction through individual or group sessions. 
Assist students in developing and using cognitive behavioral therapy strategies (CBTs).
Previous experience in K-8 school setting preferred. 
Ability to collaborate with teachers and other staff in assisting students of all needs. 
Familiarity with Special Education Law preferred. 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Sheepscot Regional Education Program is a Grades 7-12 regional special education behavior program located on the Wiscasset School Department Campus. It is an educational service provided by the Sheepscot Regional Service Center. Students from regional school districts who are members of the program are referred and transported to the program. The program educates students who struggle socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. The program provides pathways for a standards-based diploma, community outreach, mentorships, and onsite counseling.

Part-time (.6) speech pathologist to work in our k-8 Palermo Elementary School.

Speech & Language Pathologist position effective fall of 2024. Successful candidate will work with students with disabilities with language handicaps, articulation deficits, dysfluencies and voice disorders in order to help reduce or eliminate speech and hearing impediments that interfere with the individual student’s ability to benefit from the district’s educational program. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
 
• Administer screening tests and comprehensive diagnostic evaluations/assessments

• Develop individualized goals & Individualized Education Plans consistent with State/Federal Laws & Regulations

• Plan therapy & use appropriate diagnostic tools and therapy techniques to support the curriculum

• Experience working directly with students with developmental disabilities/autism spectrum disorder strongly preferred, as well as experience with Hearing Impairments

• Collect data on student performance & report upon quarterly progress for individual students

• Participate in IEP meetings

• Consult and work collaboratively with specialists and regular education teachers

• Demonstrate ability to implement a variety of models of therapy including individual and small group therapy, inclusive therapy and consultation

• Maintain thorough knowledge of the theory, principles and methods of speech pathology and their proper application in the educational environment

• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment and to maintain effectiveness in a changing environment.

• Ability to maintain appropriate level of ethical behavior & diligently maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
