Description: Sun West School Division invites applications for a
Payroll Officer in the Sun West School Division Office, Rosetown, SK. This is a permanent position, 37.5 hours per week, commencing as soon as possible.
The successful applicant, as part of a payroll team, will be responsible for managing the payroll processing for all employees. This position requires the performance of all payroll duties including compliance with The Saskatchewan Employment Act, local and Provincial collective agreements, Board Policies and Procedures, and all applicable legislation.
The successful applicant will possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage all aspects of payroll administration for an organization with over 800 employees.

Duties and Responsibilities: - Manages all aspects and data regarding assigned group of staff payroll – teaching, non-teaching and substitutes/casuals.
- Addresses confidential matters with respect to industrial relations, which includes collating information for collective bargaining, information pertaining to grievances by staff; and sensitive information with respect to personnel.
- Organizes payroll summary information and vouchers from all schools and departments including maintenance, transportation and technology.
- Applies clauses of collective agreements and employment contracts with regards to wages, increments, sick leave, vacation entitlement, leaves of absence, etc.
- Processes, transmits, and balances all month end reports.
- Calculates salary increases, increments, retro pay, payouts and adjustments.
- Completes Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF), union and association fee calculations for all staff.
- Processes all payroll remittances: arrears reports, communication with organizations, balancing and general reconciliations.
- Processes Supplemental Employment Benefits (SEB) Plans: ensures forms have been forwarded to employees, calculates payments and deductions.
- Handles inquiries regarding employment and salary verification from financial institutions.
- Manages requests for required information regarding employment.
- Completes T4s and files T4 summary with Revenue Canada.
- Maintains employment records including, but not limited to: sick leave accumulation, and vacation entitlement for all employees.
- Completes Records of Experience and/or Records of Employment for all staff.
- Manages all information concerning pension plans.
- Manages all information concerning employees who retire or terminate employment.
- Responds to inquiries from government agencies; refers inquiries with respect to terminations to the Human Resources Manager.
- Assists with annual reconciliation, balancing payroll accounts, and updating records.
- Administers placement on the salary grid for all staff.
- Manages the information for out of province experience transfer.
- Monitors and verifies all changes in employment including staff changes, increases or decreases in hours or days worked.
- Monitors and calculates hours worked and related costs for government subsidized programs such as Workers' Compensation.
- Completes invoices for reimbursements of salary and related costs, such as substitute teacher costs for provincial organizations.
