JOB TITLE:  Transportation Aide
 
SITE & LOCATION OF POSITION:  Maintenance, Operations & Transportation Department
 
TERM AND HOURS OF POSITION: 4.5 hours per day/10 months per year
                                     
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  Under general supervision, assist with transportation needs of children.  Perform a variety of functions related to the special needs of children being transported and to do other related work as assigned.  Assist driver with loading and unloading students; supervise students while riding district vehicles, attending to any special needs that may occur on the vehicle including behavior management; cleaning up student spills/bodily fluids; working with parents, teachers, instructional aides, and drivers to meet the needs of the students; administering first aide if needed.
 
SALARY:  Range 4, $16.50 per hour (includes $0.32 per hour in lieu of benefits).
 
SCREENING PROCEDURES:  Review of applications and personal interviews.

OTHER COMMENTS:  Applicant selected will be required to successfully complete a pre-placement medical assessment, TB clearance, and fingerprint clearance before being hired as a probationary employee.

JOB TITLE: Night Custodian
 
SITE LOCATION OF POSITION:  Maintenance, Operations and Transportation
 
TERMS/HOURS OF POSITION:  4 hours per day, 12 months per year  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  To provide safe, healthy, and orderly campuses; keep assigned buildings and grounds clean; and maintain security of school property.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:  Materials, disinfectants, equipment and methods used in custodial work.

Ability to:
Learn, use and maintain cleaning equipment and materials with skill and efficiency.
Learn and utilize tools in minor maintenance work.
Learn and utilize safe work practices.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Work effectively in the absence of supervision.
Establish & maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of
work.

Experience and Training Guidelines:  Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:  Some custodial experience is desirable.

Training: Formal or informal training which provides the ability to read and write at a
level necessary for successful job performance.

License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.
 
SALARY RANGE AND AMOUNT: Range 16, Step 1 $20.39 per hour. (Additional $0.32 per hour in lieu of benefits.  Additional $0.25 per hour night differential.)

Ability to:  Perform semiskilled maintenance, construction and repair work in area assigned; use and operate hand and power tools and equipment; interpret basic maps and blueprints; maintain order among students on a school bus; learn designated bus route, including stops and traffic hazards; work cooperatively and independently.
 
SALARY:  Range 20, Step 1 $22.51
