Effective immediately, Human Resources is accepting online applications for the position of Occupational Therapist. This is a temporary position for the 2025-2026 school year; Monday - Friday, 7.5 paid hours per day. The Occupational Therapist will be based at Kaposia Elementary School and South St. Paul Middle School and has an average caseload of 40-60 students. 

Salary Range: $44,929 - $102,918
Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in Teachers' Collectively Bargained Agreement.

Job Summary
Occupational Therapists provide a related service to support the special needs of qualified students with IEP’s, assigning, designing, and implementing appropriate therapies, preparing and maintaining appropriate records, and related work as apparent or assigned.
 
Job Functions
• Provide direct and indirect Occupational Therapy (OT) to identified students in home or schools.
• Train special and general education staff, parent and other team members on specific interventions.
• Recommend and train staff, parents and/or students on equipment; observes student in various educational environments and provides recommendations; adapts and/or modifies materials.
• Implement educational plans as describe on individual IEP/IFSP and provide information for building staff as needed.
• Maintain appropriate IEP records and reports.  Collect data on progress on goals and objectives for each student and meet all required timelines.
• Maintain accurate up to date records in the areas of program data collection and third party billing.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress.
• Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
• Support the district’s mission, vision and values.
• Work cooperatively with general education teachers and staff and provide building consultation, support and training as needed.
• Create and maintain a professional working relationship with families and staff.
• Conduct assessments, comprehensive report results, and follow Minnesota state criteria in area(s) of special education eligibility as well as mandated timelines.
• Determine and complete purchase orders for supplies, materials, and equipment based on student needs.
• Participate in building and District level professional development activities.
• Measure and document therapy outcomes and attendance.
• Collaborate with district motor team to share best practices and new therapy initiatives.
• Adhere to federal and state statute and rules related to individualized service and due process.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities in certification areas as directed by the Director of Student Services and/or the Building Principal.
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview:           
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed School Nurse to join our district’s health services team beginning July 1, 2025. As a Licensed School Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our students. You will work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to ensure the delivery of quality health services within the school setting.The Licensed School Nurse will plan and direct the work of the school health personnel (Health Assistants and/or Licensed Practical Nurses) and services provided for the special health needs of students at the secondary level. 
 
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:       
 
• Provide direct nursing care to students with acute and chronic health conditions, including administering medications, treatments, and first aid as necessary.
• Conduct health assessments and screenings to identify health concerns and develop appropriate care plans.
• Monitor and manage students with special healthcare needs, such as diabetes, asthma, allergies, and epilepsy, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the school day.
• Provide training, coaching, support, and direct the work of the building health assistants and/or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Maintain accurate documentation of delegated health procedures. 
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support students' academic success by addressing health-related barriers to learning.
• Educate students, families, and staff on health-related topics, including disease prevention, nutrition, hygiene, and safety practices.
• Maintain accurate health records for all students, documenting assessments, treatments, and communications with parents and healthcare providers.
• Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with complex medical needs.
• Participate in planning and implementation of 504 plans, special education evaluations, and Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
• Provide assistance and supervision of paraprofessionals providing services to students under the category of Activities of Daily Living and approves Third Party Billing forms.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions according to established protocols.
• Serve as a liaison between the school, community healthcare providers, and public health agencies to coordinate healthcare services, data reporting, and resources for students.
• Follow Minnesota Department of Health guidance and reporting requirements around public health epidemics, vision and hearing screening, and immunizations.
• Participate in school-based committees and initiatives related to health promotion, safety, and emergency preparedness.
• Adhere to professional standards, ethical principles, and legal regulations governing nursing practice in the school setting.
• Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:  
• Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Minnesota required
• Certification as a Licensed School Nurse (LSN) or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the school year required
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required
• Experience working as a school nurse or in pediatric nursing preferred
• Flexibility and time management skills
• Excellent communication and problem solving abilities
• Ability and desire to provide school health consultations and guidance to staff within diverse and multi-faceted environments
• Must be certified in CPR and First Aid
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Summary 
Speech-language pathologists provide a complete array of services to students with identified communication challenges, including students whose primary disability is “speech-language impairment”  and students with primary disabilities who have needs in the area of communication. This position will serve early childhood special education students (ages 3-5) in our early childhood settings.
