Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Assistant to join Summer Credit Recovery at SSP High School. The Education Assistant will provide instructional and logistical support to educators and help create a positive learning environment for students.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
• Assist lead instructors in planning and delivering educational activities.

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various subjects, including but not limited to Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.

• Supervise students during classroom activities, meal times, hallway passing and other events.

• Support classroom management and ensure a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.

• Help prepare and organize materials and resources for daily lessons and activities.

• Monitor student progress and assist with assessments or evaluations as directed by the instructor.

• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes curiosity and collaboration.

Term: The term for Building & Instructional Leadership Team positions shall be two (2) years, except as indicated below. Individuals may re-apply once. After the conclusion of a second consecutive term, individuals may reapply for this position after one full term (two years) has passed.
 
Purpose: Highly motivated teacher leaders committed to ensuring at least a year's growth and learning for each and every student will work collaboratively to identify school-wide priorities, then create and implement a continuous improvement plan. 
 
Structure: Building & Instructional Leadership Teams will be composed of representation of departments and building program leadership. Members will share/rotate team meeting responsibilities and advance their collaborative effectiveness through developing individual and group capacities to practice the Norms of Collaboration.
 
Hiring Process will follow district procedures per the Department of Human Resources.
 
Hiring Committee members will be inclusive of SSPTA and district leadership.
 
Major Responsibilities Include:
 
• Attend regular site meetings throughout the school year, June Data Dig, August District SCIP kick-off and site day. 

• Participate in review of SCIP (quarterly including June / August Data Dig Days)

• Develop leadership skills and capacity by participating in professional development

• Review school data including many of the following: demographics, attendance,discipline, student achievement, student, staff and family engagement, classroom look fors etc.
 
• Participate and engage in site leadership team meetings to identify areas of strength for celebration and areas of need.  Once these have been identified, collectively generate a plan to identify root causes and action steps to meet the needs of students and staff throughout the site. 

• Engage in a data review process to plan, do, study, and act. 

• Communicate and gather feedback in a two-way manner between BILT meetings and dept representation.

• Professional Development:  provide teacher leader peer facilitation and support in conversations through SCIP process, lab classroom hosting, and walkthroughs.  In addition, recommend and support site and team professional learning opportunities.  Approve site professional development fund requests.
 
Stipend: $1000.00 (based on approximately $30 per hour for 33 hours)
 
• 13 bi-weekly meetings (Sept - May; approximately 15 hours)

• Summer Data Dig and SCIP time (18 hours divided into 3 days- 1 in June/2 in August)

• Team-identified meetings (TBD)

• Committee will meet outside of the student day.

• There will be one (1) Building & Instructional Leadership Team member for each of the following schools/programs: ABE, CLC, ECSE, and ECFE.

Job Summary
 
As a Special Education Teacher specializing in Self-Contained Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or a related field, you will play a crucial role in providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Your primary responsibility will be to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student. The teacher will follow all due process requirements under the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Minnesota state statutes. This position works collaboratively with building staff, families, community partners, and students.
Salary Range: $44,929 - $102,918
 
Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in the Teacher's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Functions:  
• Develop and implement specialized lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, Autism, or related disabilities. 
• Provide differentiated instruction to accommodate varying learning styles, abilities, and challenges.
• Conduct ongoing assessments to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement.
• Regularly monitor and document students' progress, adjusting instructional strategies accordingly.
• Modify and adapt standard curriculum materials to make them accessible and comprehensible for students.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure alignment with overall curriculum goals.
• Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive and supportive classroom environment.
• Work closely with support staff and parents to address and manage challenging behaviors effectively.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs for students.
• Collaborate with the IEP team, including parents, to set realistic goals and objectives for each student.
• Foster open communication with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding students' progress and individual needs.
• Collaborate with other special education professionals, paraprofessionals, and support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
• Stay abreast of the latest research, best practices, and methodologies related to special education
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
• Other duties as assigned 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Valid Minnesota teaching license in a Special Education field of either Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, Autism, or a related field; or
  • Authorization for the district to complete an Out of Field Permission (OFP) request; or
  • Ability to meet the Tier 1 or Tier 2 PELSB license guidelines.
