Austin Public School District is seeking to hire a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant for the '25-'26 school year
APS is a world-class public school system located in Austin, MN. We employ over 800 full- and part-time employees and serve over 5000 students from diverse backgrounds.
This position for a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) will provide direct and indirect services to students, as well as supervision for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA), in conjunction with other OTR staff in the district, across multiple grade levels.
Essential duties of the job:
Provide services to children according to establish ed treatment plan.
Communicates with other staff and parents to ensure that students meet goals.
Assists other staff in the use of various technology, exercise programs, sensory programs and equipment.
Assists with the data collection for individualized education plan reports.
Evaluates motor and sensory needs of children.
Assists in the development of various programs.
Training & Experience:
Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy and two years experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Knowledge of: · Occupational therapy principles; Various equipment and programs related to occupational therapy; Child development; Teaching and principles; Counseling principles.
Skill in:
· Using various equipment in providing occupational therapy;
· Counseling parents and teachers about the issues related to child development;
· Operating a computer and applicable software;
· Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
