The Spencerport School District is currently accepting applications for a Middle School Assistant Principal. This position will provide leadership at the Middle School, grade level supervision, work with content area departments as assigned, and serve as an instructional leader and support district initiatives to enhance teaching and learning. This includes personalizing instruction through differentiation, utilizing technology to support teaching and learning, development of high-quality assessments and incorporating culturally responsive education and social emotional learning opportunities for all students.
Essential Responsibilities: 1. Supervision of instruction: assign, supervise and evaluate all teachers, teacher aides, and teacher assistants. Implement Annual Professional Performance Review of faculty.
2. School Improvement: Leadership to Building Planning Teams, Teacher Leaders Leadership to specific subject area improvement plans. Leadership to school improvement plans.
3. Implementation of Code of Conduct, ensuring positive school climate, safe and orderly environment. Conduct administrative disciplinary hearings.
4. Ensure effective home-school communications through Parent-Teacher Conferences, Open House programs, Website updating, and other clear and timely communications that is required via robotic phone calls.
5. Student Placement: Implement system for student screenings and student placement into academic programs.
6 . Supervision of support staff.
7. Fostering a positive connection with students and families.
8. Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Expectations of Instructional (subject area) Administrators:
1. Collaborate with Teacher Leader and Principals on the development of the Annual Performance targets, goal setting, and monitoring of goals for the subject area.
- Standards & Program Updates created and submitted to Instruction Office.
2. Attendance at Curriculum & Staff Development Council meetings.
3. Manage district processes for textbook selection, curriculum, assessment development, and implementation.
4. Conduct, at a minimum, monthly teacher leader meetings.
5. Maintain current along with teacher leaders of SED developments and new research in the field.
6. Prepare, plan and organize in-service in the subject area for publication in Professional Learning Catalog.
7. Review with teacher leaders their responsibilities and expectations.
8. Encourage conference attendance of teacher leaders.
Required Credentials: New York State Certification: (S.A.S., S.B.L.)
Preferred Credentials: Successful prior Middle School leadership experience;
Knowledge of effective instructional strategies for all learners;
Knowledge of effective instructional practices embedding technology;
Knowledge of effective student management practices;
Knowledge of Schools to Watch program and 7 Essential Elements of Effective Middle Schools;
Knowledge of New York State standards and assessments;
Knowledge of Part 100 and 200 regulations;
Knowledge of I.D.E.A. and E.S.S.A.; and
Evidence of effective leadership, technological proficiency, and
exemplary communication, facilitation and organizational skills.
Appointment: Tenure track, twelve-month.
Starting Date: July 1, 2025
