General Definition of Work:- Responsibilities include assessing skills on a regular basis, creating programming and monitoring progress on goals and objectives at our day school.
| Performance expectations: The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following actions:- Evaluation of school age student's speech and language skills, including formal and informal testing, observation and report writing.
- Complete speech and language component of IEP, including strength/needs and targeted objectives.
- Write implementation plans and data sheets for each targeted communication goal.
- Train staff on communication programs.
- In-service families/home-based workers on communication programs.
- Monitor implementation of communication programs in the classroom.
- Complete weekly review of communication data along with written report.
- Attend staff meetings in the classrooms regularly to review communication progress/status.
- Develop and maintain augmentative communication material.
- Obtain funding for speech-generating devices.
- Develop quarterly progress reports.
- Intervention with clients who may be exhibiting the behaviors of enuresis, encopresis, ejaculation, spiting, biting, rumination, physical aggression (to self, other, or environment), verbal assault, and running. Contact with bodily fluids may occur.
- Intervention with clients 3-21 years of age to implement behavioral interventions, including physical restraint, lifting, and transporting.
- Participate in professional development and staff training activities.
- Train and supervision of Speech and Language Liaisons.
- Order and monitor inventory of communication supplies and equipment.
- Attend Center functions (Open House, Spring Festival, Annual Banquet).
- Participation in designated training and events that may occur outside of program. Must be First Aid, CPR and Pro-Act certified and maintain annual re-certification. Successful completion of medical certification program. (i.e., medication dispensing, MAP, etc.)
| Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all school board employees, professional and administrative staff, and the general public.
| Education and Experience:- Masters degree and licensure from the Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology
