Office Assistant/ Receptionist/Nurse's Assistant

Position Purpose
To work under the direct supervision of a Elementary Principal/Superintendent to provide a wide range of secretarial support, nursing support and receptionist such as communicating information to school district employees, students, parents and others as required. A key part of this position will be to manage visitors/parents/students and staff entering the school building to ensure safety and security of the school building along with assisting the nurse when she's is out of the building (medication distribution and first aid care, etc).  .  
Essential Functions:
• Manage visitors/parents/students and staff entering the school building .
• Ensure all people entering the building have proper identification.
• Assist in the health office, as needed
•  Assist the Administrative assistant as need.
• Assist the District office staff as needed.
• Answer phones and direct calls as necessary.

Additional Duties
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
• Works in standard office and school building environments.
• Maintain "Fragrance Free" free area/work space/personal space to assure sensitive persons are not affected.  The school is a fragrance free building. e.g. Perfume can not be worn in the work area. 
• Maintain building Security and inform supervisor of any concerns immediately. 
Qualification Profile
Hence providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
• Graduation from high school.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred, however Para Pro-test can be taken to become high qualified. .
• Successful experience with office work in related area a plus.
Nurse's Assistant:  This job will also have nursing responsibilities when the nurse needs help or when the nurse is gone from the building.  This includes medication distribution, First aid, handing sick students, calling parents.  Helping with Vision and Hearing- finding volunteers.  Knowing and being able to help with students that have severe medical needs: Epilepsy, Asthma, Seizures, etc. 

Benefits:
Wage:   Starting Wage for this MSEA (Minnesota School Employees Association) position is $ 17.15 per hour.   
Benefits:  Personal Days, Sick days, Holiday Pay, Bereavement Leave, Term Life Insurance, Long Term Disability Insurance. 403B Deferred Compensation plan is offered. 
Hours: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm.   M - F (school days).   !74 work days.  Start in mid-August  through Last school day in May.  You will be off during the summer months.
