TITLE: Instructional Assistant II – Exceptional Child Education
QUALIFICATIONS: 60 college credit hours or an associate degree or Kentucky Para-Educator Certification. Preferred minimum of one year
experience supervising or working with children in an organized
setting. Must work with students in special resource class
programs: Complex Needs and Highly Structured Classrooms.

JOB GOAL: Assist a certified teacher in providing instruction to individual or
small groups; monitor and report student progress.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
? Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
? Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
? Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
? Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
? Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull weights up to thirty (30) pounds.

Monitor and report behavior of students according to approved procedures; report progress regarding student performance and behavior including collect, record, and make observations for student evaluations at job sites.
Provide support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audio-visual equipment, operating educational training equipment and distributing and collecting paper and supplies.

Assist with student’s basic needs such as feeding, toileting, dressing, communication, positioning and transfers as directed by teachers and therapists.
Develops a knowledge base of potential jobs, post-secondary schools and/or training programs for students. Provide assistance with applications, financial aid, and disabilities services.
