FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
Hourly Range: $25.50-$34.00 ( depending on experience)

Summary: The maintenance worker has the responsibilities for and carrying out the general housekeeping, and janitorial tasks needed by a school building, in order to assure environmental safety and comfort to the students and staff. We are looking for a reliable, skilled maintenance worker to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our school District. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional. Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job, as the ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned by the building principal and/ or coordinator of buildings and grounds.
- Open Building doors, deactivate alarm system, and inspect building for safety hazards Take immediate steps to correct.
- Check condition or status of all building human comfort systems: heat, electricity, cooling, plumbing etc.
- In winter, remove snow or ice from all entrances and adjacent walkways.
- Do daily walk around spot check or areas serviced by the night or day custodian.
- Bring to the attention of the Building Principal or Director of Building and Grounds any concerns.
- Daily inspect all equipment and systems in building relating to the responsibilities to ensure that they are operational.
- Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, etc.
- Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed
- Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
- Maintain grounds, including garden and yard upkeep, trimming, edging, mowing lawn, collecting trash, etc.
- Perform necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash removal, etc.
- Complete regular maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs
- Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems
- Test the functionality of the facility’s safety systems
- Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations and facility expansions
- Report to facilities or maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
Minimum Requirements: . Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position.
- Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems certification(s)
- Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
- Successful completion of apprenticeship training and certification required
- Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings
Terms of Employment: 12 months position. Compensation and benefits as negotiated with the bargaining unit agreement.
Work hours are for Elementary Buildings 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Junior High Building 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
