District 81 is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced (preferred), energetic, child-centered person to work collaboratively with students, staff and parents to meet the social & emotional needs of the students. A Social Worker is needed for a PreK - 3rd Grade building with 700 students. Either a school social work degree or a school counseling degree is required.
Responsibilities:
* Provides interventions/services in group and/or individual formats to students for the purpose of meeting IEP minutes and/or providing social emotional support to the regular education population.
* Observes and advocates for student needs.
* Performs related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the team, such as create visuals/social stories for classes or individual students
* Collaborates and participates with all staff in meetings, weekly consult meetings, team meetings, RTI meetings and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information to meet student needs.
* Demonstrates leadership in school wide initiatives, such as Red Ribbon Week, Pennies for Patients, and Perfect Attendance.
* Helps in monitoring student attendance and tracking truancy referrals.
* Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in performing duties as a Mandated Reporter to uphold responsibility of ensuring the safety of all students.
* Collaborates with special education team to create treatment approaches to best meet students' needs
* Demonstrates professionalism and collaborates with others (e.g. administrators, teachers, nurse, parents, etc) for the purpose of ensuring the effective and efficient functioning of the school & team
* Demonstrates understanding of the Social Emotional Learning Standards (SEL) and effective instructional strategies and resources for teaching the scope and sequence in the academic, communication, social, and vocational curricular domains in the general curriculum.
* Maintains case records and written communications, organizes one's schedule and work space for the purpose of documenting activities and complying with mandated requirements
* Creates and completes weekly notes for each student, documenting data towards goal achievement
* Attends intake, pre-IEP, IEP, Domain, Annual and 3 year re-eval meetings for all students on caseload
* Prepares clear, professional reports, IEP annual reports, goals, and/or other assessments, as needed.
* Attends home visits for potential students, as assigned by Administration
* Assesses student and family needs for the purpose of developing/implementing plans of service to support children and/or determining eligibility for services
* Maintains knowledge of current practice in field for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
* Serves as a liaison between school and family, as well as classroom staff, service providers and administration.
* Supports the child's educational program by gathering information for the purpose of assisting parents with strategies to use in the home environment, building trust between family and district, and providing referrals.
* Collaborates with community agencies and outside therapists to provide referrals and consistency in services provided.
* Links families with community resources available when needed.
Qualifications:
The social worker should have a minimum of a Master's degree in social work (MSW)

* Maintains confidentiality
* Flexible and able to adapt to change quickly
* Uses creative approaches when teaching skill sets to students
* Collaborative with a multi-disciplinary team - able to listen to a variety of perspectives/ideas and help team decide on how to best move forward
